Awwww

The other night I was whining to [livejournal.com profile] movies_michelle and [livejournal.com profile] mlyn, while I was lying there panting like a perv because I couldn't breathe while enduring my gallbladder attacking me the way it does, that when other people I know have surgery they get LJ communities or fic written for them or vids made for them or whatnot -- and what do I get? "Oh, poo-poo, it'll be just fine." Or what I heard from my ex last night, "They do it all the time, it's no big deal." It was inequitable! I cried from my fetal position on the couch. Not fair! Or it must be a statement on what kind of rotten person I am (the most likely reason) and OMG, I must change my ways!

Anyways, I assume they were both rolling their eyes inside for many reasons, but most importantly because they knew that what appears to be a few friends had banded together to buy me Seasons 2 and 3 of The Wire, the best television series ever made. I mean, ever. (And when you know the esteem in which I hold many series, you will know that is saying a lot.) Season 3 came yesteray and I was surprised and touched, then S2 came today and I was even more touched. (I have already watched S1 multiple times, largely because I stole [livejournal.com profile] sherrold's set ages ago and am "caring" for them for her until such time she gets exasperated and demands them back (that's my story and I'm sticking to it!).

I don't know who all has contributed to this wonderful present, besides M'lyn and [livejournal.com profile] sdwolfpup, whose names were on the ordering info, but I thank you all profusely. This will make having to lie there like a slug a lot easier. I have such a hard time not multitasking, not running around or getting up five times a minute because I'm restless, but this will keep me riveted for hours and hours. There's so much to revisit in these series, so many stories to follow and complications to understand, that I know I will never be bored.

You are all great, and I thank you so much.

(And I was just telling my co-worker about this, and she's a big 24 fan, and she said, "Someone should write you a fanfiction where Tony Almeida comes back to life and he and Jack rescue you from your gallbladder!" Whee!)
