Specials

I'm not much of the announcey girl because I'm always far behind on pretty much everything, but Deep Discount DVD is having an A&E focused sale with some pretty amazing price cuts (and free shipping!). While those of you who have yearned for cheaper sets of Benny Hill will be thrilled, myself, I am agog at the $23.97 for Horatio Hornblower. I haven't bought DVDs for a long time, but I think I may have to for this one. The cheapest I've seen it was in the high $30s range or low $40. mmm, Horatio and Pellew salty goodness.

Also, iTunes is offering a free 20-song sampler of some great indie bands on an Indie Spotlight 20 Free Tracks Indie-pendence Day special. They have Eels and Grizzly Bear and a band I've been trying to get people to listen to for years with limited success, but who I think are starting to break out now, called Great Northern. You can't find the set on the iTunes page, since it comes in email with a redeem code/redeem link for people who subscribe to iTunes updates, but if you can find someone who doesn't use their codes or pays no attention to the updates, score it from them. Free tunes are always a good thing! I discovered some of my most-loved bands by picking up CDs in the free disc bin at Cellophane Square, a used record store in Seattle. If you bought something, you could pick something out of the free bin, and people would often ask me after a vid or something, where did you get that music? And I'd always say the free bin!

I hope everyone has a happy Canada Day today!
