My, we sure are a bunch of grammar geeks :-) But as I said, as sad as the loss of those strong declinations and conjugations is, it's not like it isn't a constant process. I mean, look at Anglo-Saxon or Old High German!!!
It only gets annoying when someone tries to regulate it...either like the French in trying to stop language progress and change or like the crazy Germans in their Rechtschreibereform (in which I proudly refuse to partake :-) <-- of course, not living there makes that fairly easy...
My biggest regret in English is the loss of the subjunctive...and even if I try to sing them Fiddler on the Roof, they don't get it :-)
