It sounds like you've been making a lot more than "slow progress on a few things." Frankly, I'm amazed at how much you've been able to do under extremely difficult circumstances - especially those that require creative energy. I hope that things continue to improve for you.
And selfishly, I've been so thrilled that you & Sandy are remastering A Fire is Burning that I can hardly wait. I agree with you - it is a fantastic vid! And I say that not just because I have long adored both Pros and Oysterband, and the combination is a dream match. The vid is a great example of synergy - it captures such driving energy that I've worn out more than one tape replaying it endlessly.
It's great to hear you say: It's been so fun to work on this thing. I wish we could remaster a bunch of our old Pros vids (stop screaming, Sandy!).
I know that remastering a vid can be an enormous amount of work, and the process is significantly different for a vidder than working on a new vid, and that some vidders don't see the worth. But oh, I do hope that you can persuade Sandy to consider doing more Pros vid remastering with you. So many Pros vids have disappeared as tapes age and/or vidders leave Pros or fandom altogether. And now with DVD source available...
I wish there was some way to better convey to vidders how much enthusiasm there really is for remastered vids - at least on the part of fans that I connect with. Yeah, there are always going to be some fans who want only the latest, newest shiny object that they play with once and leave behind as they run on to the next "hot thing." But there are many others, in my experience, who treasure stories and vids, and for whom rewatching or rereading is an integral part of the joy that we find in fandom.
Which is all to say that I do very much appreciate the work that goes into the creation of your vids and stories, and the work that goes into the remastered vids - and they do bring pleasure and joy years after you may have thought them forgotten.
