WHAT THE FRAK?

Dudes. I cannot BELIEVE that no one has outbid my measly $110 on [livejournal.com profile] sweetestdrain in the Vividcon vidder auction, which ends today, peeps. This is your last chance to buy some of the best vidders around to make a vid to your specifications, and contribute to one of the coolest cons around, as well. Seriously: This lineup is incredible. I've put bids in on a bunch of people because I don't think there's a one in the group who wouldn't make me the most spectacular and wonderful vid. And yet... these are the lowest bids I've seen in the history of the auction.

Now, it usually heats up in the last two days, but... this is a lukewarm response, at best. What, did everyone spend all their dough on previous auctions? We're talking [livejournal.com profile] sdwolfpup, [livejournal.com profile] laurashapiro, [livejournal.com profile] absolut3destiny, and [livejournal.com profile] killabeez, citizens! Not to mention sweetestdrain, on whom I have like the lowest bid in the whole group and who is worth so much more. I'm thinking of bidding against myself just to get that kick-started.

Go! Bid! Pool your money with like-minded friends! You're contributing to a con that's kinda expensive to run, but produces some of the best fannish entertainment around, and you get to have a really amazing vidder (seriously, this is the most incredible group evah) all to your very self, just like a personal vidding bendy toy.

I know, I'm sitting here thinking... "Damn, $110?? Is it... cheating, if I asked some friends to go in with me...?"

I don't even know if it's legal to bid against myself... A part of me is wondering if the timing on that Sweet Charity auction recently has thrown a spanner in the works here. It's really strange to me that such a high caliber of vidders are not being fought over tooth and nail. (I was totally prepared to go to the mats for you and the others and i haven't even had a chance to get into a bidding frenzy!)

I've bid 3 or 4 times on two different vidders...but I got outbid within, like, 30 seconds. That's not the type of thing that makes you keep on bidding right then.

I really don't think Sweet Charity has much to do with it. While Lithium Doll and Zoe Rayne got very high bids on their services, six of the vids went for under 40 pounds/$80 as the final bid (including the one I won).

And the first VVC auction had at least one vid go for under $50 final bid, and another around $100, IIRC.

I've bid all three years and this seems exactly on schedule to me. Lots of bidding in the first 2-3 days, then nothing until the last hour or so, where some vids doubled in price.

And don't discount the fact that only one vidder is offering Big New Fandom, and she's limiting it to S1. And only one vidder mentions Up and Coming new fandom.

I'm not complaining, because the fandoms being offered are My Fandoms. But if a Known SGA Vidder was on auction offereing to vid any song for all eps so far, then I'm sure the bidding would already be at $400.
