SGA is probably like that in part because the early tone was heavily influenced by dS people. dS is the feedbackingest (behold my fearful neologism!) fandom on this earth, I swear. (Hmmm. I wonder if that extends to vids. I should ask some of the multi-fandom vidders who have done dS vids.)
