Just wondering -- is the third option, FIOS, a possibility where you live? That's what I went with here, and I love it. It's a bundled package (if you want it to be) for my phone-tv-internet, with superfast speeds, I've never had an outage, and when I called tech support (Verizon) I -- got an actual tech guy on the first ring, who logged in remotely to my computer, fixed the problem, and went on his way.

I'm using my TiVo with FIOS, since it has Lifetime service. Alas, it's not an HD Tivo, and I just can't afford one right now, which means my tv image does not fill my tv screen when I watch through the Tivo -- only if I go live, through the set top box.

[livejournal.com profile] merryish has one of the set top boxes with a dvr built in, and likes it lots.

If it's not an option though, [livejournal.com profile] aka_arduinna has had DirecTV for years, and seems very happy with it.
