Yikes. I've only limited experience of West Seattle, most of it between late 60s and early 80s; a college friend lived there, plus, Alki was a place to go. Later, when we were in Tacoma (D's ship in drydock at Bremerton) BIL was on a ship in Todd Shipyards, which is Harbor Island, I think? That is at least accessible from I-5, but had its challenges, as well.
