Well, Illinois, my state, just made same-sex marriage legal, as of June 1, 2014. Civil union came in 2011, and I was sure it would take years to get marriage here, but I was wrong. It was a close vote; needed 60 votes and got 61. My legislator Naomi Jackobsson who is not always cooperative went beyond everything so I have to forgive her other poor votes. She drove to the state capital, about a 2-hr drive, to place her vote when her son was dying. He died that day. Apparently the House waited to take the vote until she got there. Sometimes pols behave decently, and some take real responsibility for their vote.
