New vid: Prison Break

I made this vid for the Escapade vid show this year; it will be premiering there at a show, but I just don't want to sit on it anymore. I'm too happy with it! It's been a long time since I've been this giddily happy with a vid I made. This is a slightly modified version of what I sent to the con; it's not substantially different but this one will be tweaked a bit compared to that version. I really don't like the streaming version so I'm not going to embed it here, but I will provide a link -- I just think the DL is a lot cleaner and better looking.

I don't normally warn on a vid, but Prison Break does use a lot of white flashing edits/blown out color flash edits, and I've also mimicked that style in some spots. I don't think it's that bad on a web file, but there you are.

Feedback or recs of any kind is always welcome. I might write some notes about this later just because I had so much fun making it.

Brilliant with a capital B. Loved the ebb and flow of the elegant imagery that matches the rhythm of the song, love the POV and plot. Wonderful.

Wow, gwyn. Wow, wow, wow. I know absolutely nothing about this show - I know so little, in fact, that I didn't realize William Fichtner was in it, and he's one of my favorite actors! But this vid is gorgeous, and the intensity of the obsession and the love/hate and the chase totally comes through. And how. *g* The song in and of itself is sort of hypnotic, but the editing and flow is just amazing.

"So much hate for the ones we love" - epic clip choice. The sunglasses scene, in fact all the mirroring in general, just fantastic. The tattoo-in-SONA scene and Mahone biting his lip. The change in music for the wall-porn. Seriously, this was awesome.

This is truly excellent. Your use of effects is subtle and seamless with the source. The characters' stories are agonizingly clear, even to someone who has seen very little of the source. Fichtner is gloriously hypnotizing. Wall porn is the perfect description/warning. I can't wait to see the room's reaction at Escapade. :D

OMGOMG*FLAIL*OMG

Wow. Dude, just, wow. I have no words.

This is just so awesome. The song is glorious and the vid is totally mesmerising. An utterly, utterly compelling take on the intensity of feeling between these two -- so beautifully illustrated how much they have suffered with, for, and because of, each other. The mirroring was gorgeously done, showing the different paths they took on the same journey.

The Sona scenes were so perfectly in sync with the music and so very, very hot :-)

But for all of the brilliance, I think my favourite bit was in the middle, with the cars -- driving towards a head on collision at a hundred miles an our, only pulling slightly out of the way of explosion at the last second but still creating a firestorm of sparks. You couldn't sum up their relationship any better!

GODDAMN, woman. You knocked that one out of the park. I'd never heard this version of the song before, and it's a perfect choice. Your use of effects to make the narrative a bit distorted, a bit fragmented, is perfect for Mahone. I especially loved your use of Mahone tearing Michael's picture off the wall, his hand-flick, and Michael dropping the cuffs. Oh, and the near collision, with sparks and 'thunder in our hearts'.

'Let's exchange the experience' literally gave me goosebumps. Wow.

Wow. That was fantastic!

I loved the song choice -- there's such a low, sexual energy to Placebo's sound and it works so well for the intensity between Michael and Alex. I loved the symmetry of the clips, the way that there were so many moments of showing Alex and Michael as alike, as equals and even reflections of each other. The editing was great.

And I especially loved your use of the wall scene, matching it to the music dropping lower and more intimate. It captured so many things that I love about this pairing.

Yay! I've seen vids set to this song before, but they never quite came off; I think it must be difficult to vid to. But your work here is seamless, and builds so beautifully. <3 I think the slightly dispassionate singing, combined with the passionate lyrics, works really well for them.
