New vid: Prison Break

I made this vid for the Escapade vid show this year; it will be premiering there at a show, but I just don't want to sit on it anymore. I'm too happy with it! It's been a long time since I've been this giddily happy with a vid I made. This is a slightly modified version of what I sent to the con; it's not substantially different but this one will be tweaked a bit compared to that version. I really don't like the streaming version so I'm not going to embed it here, but I will provide a link -- I just think the DL is a lot cleaner and better looking.
Running Up That Hill
Fandom: Prison Break, Michael/Mahone
Artist: Placebo
File: Divx avi, 45MB
Obsession and wall porn.
Streaming: http://www.viddler.com/explore/gwyn/videos/14/
I don't normally warn on a vid, but Prison Break does use a lot of white flashing edits/blown out color flash edits, and I've also mimicked that style in some spots. I don't think it's that bad on a web file, but there you are.
Feedback or recs of any kind is always welcome. I might write some notes about this later just because I had so much fun making it.

Date: 2011-02-18 07:56 pm (UTC)Wow. Dude, just, wow. I have no words.
This is just so awesome. The song is glorious and the vid is totally mesmerising. An utterly, utterly compelling take on the intensity of feeling between these two -- so beautifully illustrated how much they have suffered with, for, and because of, each other. The mirroring was gorgeously done, showing the different paths they took on the same journey.
The Sona scenes were so perfectly in sync with the music and so very, very hot :-)
But for all of the brilliance, I think my favourite bit was in the middle, with the cars -- driving towards a head on collision at a hundred miles an our, only pulling slightly out of the way of explosion at the last second but still creating a firestorm of sparks. You couldn't sum up their relationship any better!
Oh, my boys.
Well hey, look, guess I did find some words after all :-)
*standing ovation*

Date: 2011-02-20 01:31 pm (UTC)I loved the song choice -- there's such a low, sexual energy to Placebo's sound and it works so well for the intensity between Michael and Alex. I loved the symmetry of the clips, the way that there were so many moments of showing Alex and Michael as alike, as equals and even reflections of each other. The editing was great.
And I especially loved your use of the wall scene, matching it to the music dropping lower and more intimate. It captured so many things that I love about this pairing.

Date: 2011-03-02 07:41 am (UTC)The thing that constantly gets to me is how equal they are -- and how that shifts and morphs over the course of the show, changing who they are to each other while never lessening. It's so, so intense.
It is. Especially when the show spent pretty much the whole of S1 setting Michael apart from everyone. He was the brilliant lynchpin of the group, the one who seemed more trapped inside his own head than imprisoned by physical bars. And then, boom, S2 and he has an equal who's continually shown to not just be "as smart as" but who *thinks* like Michael, who follows the logic easily.
And, please, even when they're surrounded by the rest of the cast, there's an electricity between them and their reactions to each other. It's wonderful.
