The painters are here today, painting the living room and kitchen. The cabinets came today. And yesterday, Brent took down the wall that divided the new space from my living room, so everything is now open and move-aroundable.

But it's hard to be excited -- my bestest friend for like the past 25 years, Michael, had a heart attack earlier this week, and he is now in the hospital undergoing tests for the triple-plus bypass they are going to do either tomorrow or Friday. His family has a horrendous history of heart disease, both his parents died of massive heart failure and had undergone numerous operations, and his older brother has been having a series of heart attacks recently. The one good thing is that Michael doesn't smoke, but he does live with a heavy smoker. I'm really wigged out -- surgery, as we all know, scares the bejeesus out of me, but something where they are cutting one of my closest friends' heart open is just a little much to handle.

If you've got it in your heart to say a prayer or light a candle or whatever your faith does, I would definitely appreciate it.

Yay for the remodel progress, and I will send some good energy Michael's direction--and yours.

Sends the good vibes Michael's way.

And the more I read these entries of your about the house, the more I think of the entry in Pepys' diary about his (mis)adventures in home improvement.

The one where he mentions that one of the stairs on the stair case is creaky and feels a bit off and then comes home from the office to no staircase is priceless.

Congrats on all the house progress, and *hugs* and good thoughts for your friend.

Hope Michael's surgery goes smoothly, and he's soon on the road to a full recovery. I also hope the person he lives with quits smoking!

*hug*

Gwyn, I'm so sorry!

Triple-bypass surgery sounds horribly scary, but the survival stats on it are *very* good; they really know what they're doing in there, now.

I'll be thinking of both of you, okay?

If you've got it in your heart to say a prayer or light a candle or whatever your faith does, I would definitely appreciate it.

I'll be sending good thoughts his way - and yours, too. I'm not a practioner of organized religion of any sort, but my mom and several friends are, so I'll ask them to include Michael. My mom comes from a Catholic tradition of special masses and prayers for intercession when a loved one is ill, a number of friends are practicing wiccans, and I've a friend who's a minister - so Michael will be covered on several fronts! Even though they aren't my practices, I do believe that good thoughts of any sort won't hurt, and might help.

And Sandy's right, too, in that survival stats on bypass surgery, even a triple bypass, are very good. So Michael will have medicine and science on his side, along with good wishes and prayers - and good friends like you! That's a pretty effective combo. I'll be keeping you both in my thoughts.

I've been hearing the same thing on the recovery rates on that surgery.
An uncle-in-law just went through this and came out just fine, and knowing that is such a huge relief for all concerned. Pass along lots of good energy!
