The painters are here today, painting the living room and kitchen. The cabinets came today. And yesterday, Brent took down the wall that divided the new space from my living room, so everything is now open and move-aroundable.
But it's hard to be excited -- my bestest friend for like the past 25 years, Michael, had a heart attack earlier this week, and he is now in the hospital undergoing tests for the triple-plus bypass they are going to do either tomorrow or Friday. His family has a horrendous history of heart disease, both his parents died of massive heart failure and had undergone numerous operations, and his older brother has been having a series of heart attacks recently. The one good thing is that Michael doesn't smoke, but he does live with a heavy smoker. I'm really wigged out -- surgery, as we all know, scares the bejeesus out of me, but something where they are cutting one of my closest friends' heart open is just a little much to handle.
If you've got it in your heart to say a prayer or light a candle or whatever your faith does, I would definitely appreciate it.
This is the view looking from my living room to the new back door.

and this is from the back door looking toward the living room, which before, you could not see through to
