Justified rewatch: 4x01

I apologize for being late; I'm still catching up from a mini vacation, but it's only two of us participating with me, right?

4.01 - This season opener seemed to be making an effort to be a little less grim. Which makes sense, since last season was pretty heavy. Of course, the humor was still pitch black, tho there was a lot of it!

Raylan shooting the air bag instead of the fugitive was genius! It's the kind of cleverness that you wish a lot of other shows could come up with.

This episode introduces us to Constable Bob! It's funny to go back and see what I initially thought was just going to be a quick guest star role and think about the part Bob plays later on.

And Colt! Wow, I loved Colt as a character. So charming yet terrifying. (What is Ron Eldard up to these days, I wonder...)

That last scene with Arlo is reminiscent of his actions at the end of last season. We've known he was a cold-hearted bastard, but this is pretty hard core. Was he always this bad or is his mental condition making him more extreme? If he was always this way, holy shit, it's a wonder Raylan isn't a serial killer.

I suspect there are lurkers. :D (hope you had fun on your vacay!)

I love the set up for this season, reaching back several decades with the body falling out of the sky and the mystery of Waldo Truth.

The actor who plays Jody Adair is phenomenal. He does crazy very well. I hope to one day see him in a role where he isn't a sociopathic murderer.

Patton Oswalt always shows up in the unlikeliest of shows. I remember being seriously confused by where in the hierarchy of law enforcement in Harlan county Constable Bob was supposed to fall. Constable Bob's little car, though!

"Well I'm not going to cover that up with the smell of baking cookies." heeeee <3 Raylan.

Sort of interesting to see Boyd come up against another "church", though I hate to say it I actually think his church had a bit more integrity than this one. Totally forgot about the creepy brother/sister preachers. I recall that first time I watched this I thought they were setting up an incest storyline, but it never happened. Poor Ellen May, I feel so bad for her.
