Stupid plastic piece of crap
Mar. 12th, 2006 04:03 pmI got a digital camera for Christmas and I keep forgetting, when I walk up to the store at lunch, to bring it with me so I can show people the spectacular view I have when the weather is clear and the Olympic mountains are out in all their glory. It lasts only for a few blocks, but it's pretty nice. I live up the hill from a couple of parks (one small, one huge) and have started my walking program again so I can fit into the dress I bought for Vividcon, and it's light out now. Today I ventured over to my ex's house to see if they'd gotten the tree out from his roof (the poor guy, he and new wifey had just gotten their house remodel move completed, with it off the trusses and starting to look like a house again, when we had a huge storm and a tree fell on the roof, the one part of the house they weren't redoing yet), which is just up the street from the park. There was the most spectacular cloud formation today; I've never seen anything like it. I took some really neat pics of it, especially for
mlyn because I know she loves them clouds.
I took all these pics on my trip to California, and of course the really cool clouds today. And I cannot for the life of me get LJ to let me upload them here. It keeps saying there's an error (FAIL: no content window?) with Java, but this is not explained, and then when I click okay it gives me the dialog box that says where to insert image from, but neither scrapbook (where I've uploaded the images) nor from file (where all the images are on my desktop) will let me put them up. I don't get what's going wrong (other than that I'm being punished for using Safari) and why this seems to be easy (click this, click that) and yet impossible to do. It seems to work for everyone else. The activity window says there's a connect to host error, but I have no idea what that is, let alone what that has to do with just uploading a file from my desktop, and everything else appears to be all connecty. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong? (I'm using the web interface, btw, but I don't have the pop-up blocker enabled right now).

Date: 2006-03-13 01:44 am (UTC)Go to your galleries index (http://pics.livejournal.com/manage/gals)
Click on your gallery name.
On the left-hand column, you should see the name of the gallery, a sample picture, and a series of links. Click on the link that says "Pictures." (http://pics.livejournal.com/manage/pics?gal=2)
Now check the checkboxes for the pictures you want to post, and click the "Post selected photos to journal" button.
You'll see a page where you can change the tags or layouts (eg how the picture/caption is situated, and the size of the thumbnail). Do what you will, then click the "Continue" button at the bottom.
The pictures code is automatically inserted into a new journal entry field.
Does that help?

Date: 2006-03-13 02:10 am (UTC)Scrapbook is still completely ass-backwards, but at least my repeated attempts at trying things have enabled me to find my way through it.
