Thank you for signing up to write a story for me! I'm always very excited at this time of year, because I love gift-giving and receiving, so I'm sure I'll enjoy what you do because we share a fandom in common.

General stuff about me

I'm open to a lot of stuff: angst with a happy ending, romance, humor, ships (slash or het), gen, character studies, long plotty stuff (I love plotty stuff and fic with world-building or that goes in depth), fluff, or drama. I love first times and falling in love, friendships, relationships between people who are equals. Friends to lovers might be my ultimate trope, and found families is right up there too. What I love about my fandoms is the canon universe they inhabit, so I'm not really into mundane AUs, however what-if AUs (canon-divergence) can be really cool--I love it when someone comes up with a story off of one element being changed!

But there's definitely some things I don't want, which I mentioned in my optional details and will explain further here. I would really appreciate not having BDSM/anything particularly sex kink-oriented, non-con of any type, emotional abuse, ABO and that sort of thing (usually, if there are initials for it, it's a safe bet I'm not into it), any kind of animal harm. A new thing I've learned I really dislike is jealousy, and related to that, love triangles. I've battled grief and depression for a while and dealt with cancer recently, so something that might make me more depressed or fic about illnesses or death would not be my first choice, but if that's the direction your story goes, I'm also not the kind of person who'd freak out about it.

Some tropes and approaches I enjoy (thanks to dorinda for letting me steal her terminology) are hopeful endings even if it's not necessarily a happy-ever-after, words that camouflage deeper/unspoken meanings and hidden feelings, protectiveness (without posessiveness), extreme competence (with honest weakness), hurt/comfort, partners against the world, nurturing via food/drink/warmth. I also love many of the classics: extreme competence kink, having to share a bed, huddling for warmth and/or stranded somewhere, pretend couple, situations where one suffers or sacrifices for the other, rescues, everybody lives!, etc. Genre can be fun: someone finds they have superpowers, or is trapped in a time loop, things like that. If you can write time travel of some sort, I'll be giddy.

The fandoms I've requested

As I said in my optional details, there's a lot about this movie that was frustrating and kind of problematic, but it also pushed a lot of buttons for me and Chris Evans looks crazy hot in his little '70s shorts and wetsuits. I grew up in the '60s and '70s and remember a lot of these things very well, and I really admire the heroic acts that are the centerpiece of the story, so I think there's a lot of room to explore here. If you liked Ari Levinson, go wild, because I loved him too. Relationship with one of the other characters, especially Sammy? Yes, yay. I loved their love-hate relationship and totally understood why Sammy was so constantly irritated by Ari's loose-cannon behavior. I ended up shipping them like crazy, but if you'd rather put him with someone else, that's fine! Just him being a badass Mossad agent? Sign me up. I can totally see why he'd get on his boss's last nerve, but there's also a distinct hint of competence kink here. Hilarity and hijinx ensue with trying to run a diving resort when he's completely incapable and doesn't know anything about the hospitality industry? Absolute gold. I was honestly a little disappointed that the movie only had a short montage (set to a song that didn't come out for another two years!) about them running the resort, so you could have a lot of fun fleshing that out. Continuing his work with the Ethiopian refugees? Wonderful. What happens after that last mission--does he go back to Africa somehow? Do he and Kabede get more people to Israel? I would love to know more about their relationship.

This fandom kind of snuck up on me, I never expected to like it and I was especially surprised to find myself falling for James and Francis. But I figure by next year, it won't be eligible for Yuletide so I'm striking while the iron's hot. I'm a Fitzjames/Crozier shipper, so I've limited my character requests to them--however, I do love some other characters that you could bring in as well. If that romantic ship doesn't send you, I'm especially fond of friendship stories and I adored how they both came round with regard to each other, or just focusing on them as colleagues is cool. Their dynamic throughout the story, as things change on them and they have to change with them...it's like catnip to me. I adore Mr. Blanky and his relationship with Francis, as well as Goodsir in general but also with him making such an effort with Silna, if that's more your style. Just please, no Hickey, or at least, as little of him as possible. There was such a richness in this, which was surprising in a horror show, but I loved the underlying theme of how much these white people did not belong there, and the more subtle condemnation of imperialism through Francis and James's outcast status and how they view what happens to them in the Arctic through that lens. A lot of fic focuses on them returning to England together, and if that works for you, that's okay, but that just seems so sad for them to have to go back to such a terrible place and I'd love it if you wanted to keep them alive and there, either with the Netsilik or maybe someplace else in the north--not as conquerors but with people they could be happier with. Or maybe other characters live and they form a community of some kind, not as colonizers.

I received a perfect gift of this a few years back, but ultimately, Yuletide is one of the few times during the year people seem to write this fandom, and I always think there should be more Jack Benjamin. I hated that ending for him. I'd prefer not to have too much of his parents, especially Silas, because what a freaking bastard. I'd love to see Jack figuring out who he is, and learning to live with that, either on his own or with help from someone else. I'm not the world's biggest David fan, but I am not averse to a relationship with them being the focus of the story (I've written Jack/David a lot myself)--maybe an alliance between them after the show ended, or I could see them loving each other either as friends or romantically, the way they did in the Bible within the timeline of the series. Or I could see him growing closer to Michelle, or just going off on his own, back to being a soldier prince. I absolutely loved him as a soldier, and a story focused on that could be fantastic, and I think you could really play with some of the tropes mentioned above if you choose that route. I'm a twin and pretty sensitive to the media cliches of what twins are, so a little research into twinship would go a long way, if you choose to write about Jack and Michelle. Please, no twincest. Just more Jack, please, especially competent badass Jack.
