Thanks to everyone who commented on the porting over my old stories to AO3. I'm nearly done -- I think. The worst one is ahead, which is my Buffy WIP that hasn't been finished. I found that there's something that prevents me from using the importer on a lot of my stuff (probably how things were coded before), and that one is gonna be a bitch. Blurg. But who knows, maybe it will inspire me to finish the damn thing. I'm sort of fascinated by the fact that I have so much shit from before. And how it basically almost stops after sis_r died. There's still the finished Fast and the Furious stuff from after she was gone, a Mag 7 or two, and a few chapters of the Buffy WIP, but outside of Yuletide and the odd Avengers story I wrote this summer, nada.

In a way, I'm almost glad because it means there's less to port. But if I could have had the choice to keep my twin sister and not write another word, I'd have taken that one.

I have another question, though -- what about some random Five Things little pieces I did by request a few years ago in my LJ? Would/should those be in AO3? I just don't know. I mean, I guess it's fic in a way, but it's not...well, it doesn't seem like real fic to me. They're just tiny.

I have another post at some point about Justified this season. This is the first time I can ever say I'm not unequivocally in love with it. This disturbs me, since it's the closest thing I have on TV to my old fannish obsessiveness.

Also saw Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters yesterday and have thoughts.

To which I say YAY! I have been accustomed to going to your website for story goodness, but I confess to being happy that everything is getting ported to AO3 since I can get alerts when new things are added, and can just drop in to reread a favorite story or two while I'm browsing through other stuff on AO3.

I think the tiny things are *totally* fic, and should go in the AO3! When I get around to importing my tiny oeuvre, I'm going to put up the little fairy tale poems I did for HL way back when! *g*

I really hope AO3 will implement some kind of "scraps" feature like dA has so that one can archive the little stuff without totally swamping the proper pieces. I have a similar problem with drawbles done for requests. I collect them as chapters in one work now, even though they aren't related, but the downside is you can enter recipients only for whole works.

FWIW, I put some smaller pieces (~200 words) in AO3. Since they were all in one fandom, I thought about either combining them into one document or lumping them together as "chapters" of something I'd title "Very Short Stories," but in the end I just put them up individually. There are lots of short shorts in AO3.

Some folks string their short drabbles together into one chapter with some kind of symbol breaks, others post them as separate chapters linked together thematically, even across multiple fandoms, and nobody seems to mind seeing them there. They can be a nice short treat when you need a fic break!

I would be interested in hearing those thoughts! What I've heard about it so far is pretty much "catastrophically, brain-meltingly stupid, but hey, Jeremy Renner in black leather."

Good to know! I guess I'll try to figure out how I want to bring them in. It feels weird because some of them contain paragraphs, but some of them are only tiny little lines...

I don't know what dA is, but I get what you're saying. It feels weird to post some of them as fic, but I'll give it a try.

Good to know! Yeah, some of the 5 things are like, whole paragraphs, and some of them are just one liners...it feels strange. Also it will add a lot of time to the whole thing. Which is probably more of a turnoff than anything else. ;-)

Hmmm... that's an idea. Although, what a weird, weird collection of fandoms to put together in one document: everything from Band of Brothers to Days of Our Lives. Talk about psycho! ;-)

I wouldn't characterize it that way, frankly. But yeah, Jeremy in black leather, and well, I love Gemma Arterton and she's in black leather as well lookin' miiiigty fine. But I did just post what I thought about it. I mean, it's stupid and frustrating, but I'm not sure it's brain-meltingly so.
