A tree grows in Australia
Mar. 9th, 2007 05:00 pmThis is, as a lot of people know, my least favorite day. It's hard when it's also your busiest workday and you're naming file after file with Mar. 9, 3/9, whatever, and it's like this little pinprick over and over. But
zebra363 always seems to remember me on this day, and sends me the loveliest gift, pics of her property in Australia where she planted a tree in my sister's honor shortly after her death. Zebra363 keeps me regularly updated about the little tree's progress, and now her place has alpacas (fertilizing the tree, I might add), which again couldn't be more appropriate -- I have a picture of my sister leading a lama and an alpaca down a ramp when she was training for animal rescue duty. (For those who don't know, Zebra's tree is a lemon-scented gum tree native to Oz, and this was so serendipitous because my sister loved citrus smells and she had been planning a trip to Australia for years, and was going to go there before she got sick.)
So, a little bit of my sister is remembered all the way across the world, and that makes me feel a lot better inside. I miss you, Evil Twin.
