The preciousssss!
Nov. 17th, 2003 09:13 pmMy bus home drops me off a block from my front door, and tonight as I was walking up the street, when I got to the corner I could see that there was a package on my front step, and I knew that it was my extended version of Two Towers. Oh my god!
Or, should I say, Oh my Sean! My Viggo!! The lovely extended scenes with Sean Bean just made me so giddy and happy. In plate armor, no less!! Guhhh.... ::dies::. I desperately need a Sean icon. And Frodo and Sam -- elvish rope! Legolas!! And Eowyn -- the stew! And Merry and Pippin and Ent-draughts and and and... oh so much wonderfulness. I can't wait to tackle the extras. With the surround cranked up and the HDTV, I feel like I'm in movie heaven.
I'm not much for the lecturing about piracy and all, but this time, I just wanna say -- this thing is cheap. They've put enormous hours of blood, sweat, and tears into this thing to make such a lovely piece of entertainment, and we should support them with our money. Most of us are unlikely to write a letter to New Line or Wingnut or WETA to tell them what we think, so we should let our dollars do the talking if at all possible. These guys deserve to have a mega-selling DVD set, because the work here is gorgeous. Absolutely worth every penny.

Date: 2003-11-17 11:10 pm (UTC)I should be getting it by Friday though.
I'm crossing my fingers for my David, too. A little stunned by what they did to Faramir, but I've been a fan of Wenham for yeats.

Date: 2003-11-18 09:04 am (UTC)You will SO not be disappointed by the extra stuff with Faramir. The extra scenes with him are stunning and heartbreaking, and everything he does toward the end of the movie become very clear, even the strange decision to take Frodo and Sam to Osgiliath suddenly makes a new kind of sense. The scene where he envisions Boromir in the boat just... took my breath away. And his interactions with Gollum are completely different. He's changed from a somewhat mysterious character into a heartbreaking one.
And Sean! Oh god, their scenes together are just... I'm dying to talk about Boromir's goodbye and am anxious to hear everyone's opinions.

Date: 2003-11-18 11:52 am (UTC)I bought mine yesterday and I totally agree with you about buying it to show our appreciationa nd support, the sheer amount of extra material is amazing and of exceptional quality, they do deserve to sell loads of DVDs.
I have only watched the new scenes with Boromir and Faramir - had no time to watch the rest but will do soon. But, but...it's gorgeous :)
Like you, I can't wait for people to have it and exchange comments. I'll write an entry, eventually ;)
For the time being, I Am Watching :)
Too good for words :)

Date: 2003-11-18 12:14 pm (UTC)The backstory of Faramir, Boromir and Denethor is essential to Return of the King so I'm thrilled that it's back. It sheds a lot of light on Boromir who's sometimes unfairly seen as a villian. I loved what Sean Bean did with this role.
Two Towers is beside me waiting to go home and be watched. Wonder if I can play this on my work computer.....
