I watched the season 6 Behind the Scenes of Deadliest Catch last night, and all the way through, you see the captains and the crew being mean and nasty to the cameramen and producers. A lot of that cover was blown this year with things like Phil Harris's stroke and his relationship to Todd, the cameraman, and how much Edgar Hansen has showed to the camera, not to mention all the events around Josh and Jake Harris, and Jake Anderson.

But today I opened my gas bill and the little newsletter caught my eye, and I saw Edgar and Jake's names mentioned in this article. It made me go "awww..." I thought them doing this was just the sweetest thing ever -- if you're in Seattle, you get kind of used to a lot of Deadliest Catch guys being local celebs (not to mention seeing them around town, which is always kind of a jolt), but it's especially sweet when they do this kind of thing. (Sorry for the formatting, it came from a PDF)

"A 13-year-old boy living with cancer and
other serious health conditions became a
superhero on April 29 when he saved the
region from the sinister plans of Dr. Dark
and Blackout Boy — an adventure that
brought him to the Bellevue headquarters
of Puget Sound Energy.

Wearing a red and blue superhero
costume and sporting a lightning rod
sword, Bellevue resident Erik M., aka
Electron Boy, freed Energy Jim (aka
community relations manager Jim Hutchinson) from high in
the bucket of one of our hybrid line service trucks as more
than 300 PSE employees cheered.

Arranged by the regional Make-A-Wish Foundation, the
event gave Erik the chance to fulfill his wish to be strong and
help people. After defeating his arch enemies, Erik quietly
told a Seattle Times reporter, “This is the best day of my life.”

Electron Boy’s adventures inspired news coverage
around the world and involved support from the Seattle
Sounders, Space Needle, Bellevue Police, King
and Snohomish county sheriffs, City of Seattle and
Discovery Channel’s “Deadliest Catch” stars Edgar
Hansen (Dr. Dark) and Jake Anderson (Blackout Boy).

I know, it really made me smile. Especially to think of Jake, who's had such a hard time of it lately, doing that. I found videos of "threats" they made to Electron Boy, the first of which is here:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kxW3-xGTqPE

It's fucking hilarious... "Seattle is a beautiful city. It would be better...black." They are totally hamming it up and loving it, clearly.

Little known fact

Seattle residents who watch channel 5 news will often see some bird houses in the background of the outdoor weather segments. The birdhouses were designed, built, and donated by Captain Phil Harris. BTW these were done before Deadliest Catch hit the airwaves.
