You know, this extra userpics thing is a racket, man. They reel you in with 50 icons and you keep building it and building it, and then they tell you your account will expire soon, and like you're going to actually go back to 15 measley pics! They know they have you hooked. You are an icon junkie by the time the account expires. You even learn to make your own, even if you suck at it, because every single new fannish interest or life experience must be documented with an icon. Oh yeah, like the weed of paid LJ space isn't addictive, and you don't want to move on to the harder stuff and then next thing you know you're wandering around downtown offering $20 blowjobs just so you can have extra userpics! People look at you and they see the dark circles under your eyes and the sunken cheekbones and the way your clavicle pokes out from your Salvation Army third-hand frock, and they go, "yup, userpics. I've seen it happen to the best of them."
