gwynMy bestest friend for many years is a guy named Michael, who makes fun of me as much as possible. One of his favorite targets is my love of all things Apple. A few weeks ago I was talking about my ridiculous new Vin Diesel/The Fast and the Furious obsession, which, strangely, he did not make fun of (he once asked me to make a list of all my BSOs because he couldn't keep track of them -- this is also the guy, though, who helped me get into media fandom and meet all the terrible enablers I came to know in the Media Cannibals -- but when I got to 100, he told me to stop and mimed a headache), and I thought that was strange. Because he always makes fun of my guys. Turns out that all the gamer boys look upon Diesel as some kind of hero, "one of us made good" because D&D and other games were a big part of his life. I hadn't known this before, but now I see it everywhere.

They're always looking at each other with these intense gazes. You keep expecting Dom to bend Brian over the hood of the car and do him right there in the parking lot."
And Michael said, "Oh! EYE sex. I thought you were talking about one of those Mac things of yours, like iPods or iTunes or something." I haven't laughed that hard in years. I could not stop. It killed me. So I had to make an icon. It's so perfect -- I have an iBook and an iMac, and all the iLife applications, and I want an iPod... I'm having iSex. So that's the story of my icon.
