I am so not worthy

A while ago, a fellow vidder I've known for some time, Imbir boxedfish, mentioned doing a vidder profile on me at the vid_commentary. I felt super flattered, and also like I didn't belong there, since the profiles so far are of a lot of the vidders in the kool kids klub, which I am so not a member of, being a dinosaur from the Jurassic period of VCR vidding. But Imbir persevered and cut through my trepidation.

The profile got posted today, and I am so not worthy. Imbir made some really cool choices of which vids to show. I feel very funny, promoting myself, but Imbir did such a great job and it is such a kind and wonderful thing to do that of course, I have to post about it. Thank you so much, Imbir, for your efforts and all the kind words you've had for me over time.

Pfff, you make it sound as if you made it difficult for me. You have a huge range as a vidder and the vids just fell into formation (I was a bit surprised at how easy this turned out to be); my job was to sit there and curse Final Cut and DivX (I was not a bit surprised at how easy this turned out to be).

Nevertheless, it was an entertaining process. At one point, I had Twilight Zone running as the audio for everything up to the beginning of Flashdance: it was practically perfect, in time & on the beat. I had to save a separate copy of the file because of how mysteriously brilliant it was.

(Also, I don't know what Sandy has ever done to me, but I bet she's sorry now.)

I watched your vidder profile and loved it!

I couldn't help but squeeeeee at seeing a Brotherhood of the Wolves video! (watched and loved it by the way).

I just made time to watch the vidder profile; nice. I just realized I've known you online since Virgule days but never heard your voice; you have a good one. The clips were mostly from your newer vids, covering shows I'm not really familiar with, except for Angel, but they all show one of the qualities you always bring to vids - that use of movement to connect cuts. That's a skill I don't always see in vids, but to me it is one of those things that keeps interest even in unfamiliar material. I appreciated you talk of early vidding technical difficulties - I never overcame that to do anything myself, and I tend to thing a lot of new vidders rely on technical stuff to the the detriment of the vid. Story, or emotional flow, are what vids are about. I'm not keeping up with vids - it's impossible, and I'm not following fandom's fannish movement much, but I always look at yours, even if the song and show are unknown to me. The emotional quality always comes through, and watching the movement and timing changes is a pleasure

Well, I gotta say, I learned a lot in the process -- like, get an actual microphone as opposed to just using the one on the bottom of the iMac. ;-) I loved some of the little sort of twisty ways you mapped the vids to some of what I was saying, and that Hardison intro was high-larious. You are a peach.

I still can't quite believe anyone wanted to do this! I feel like I'm one of those people from some tribe in New Guinea or the Amazon who've never seen anything modern, and are scared by the voices coming out of the boxes the weird white people carry.

It's cool and flattering. ;-) I am so, so glad that you discovered the BotW vid through this... this is totally what is the coolest thing about the Internets, being able to find stuff we love in odd places we'd never expect it. I had such a great time making that vid, too -- I love that movie like candy and it was so fun to figure out the plan of attack and make the things I saw in it fall into place. I hope you enjoy the rest and I'm so glad to meet you!!

Aw, you are so, so sweet and kind (and believe me, you have a very special place in my life and have given me so much that helped support things like this vidding habit). I'm actually thinking of remastering some of the Nikita vids and a couple others, probably the Mag 7 vids -- it's a really daunting prospect right now, all the clip capturing and such, but I sometimes feel like seeing those again, or I want to show them to someone, and there's nothing good enough to watch. There is so much good, old stuff, that I really want those things to be available again... although who knows if I'll ever be able to do anything with the Now and Again vids...)

Ok, you are seriously so hilarious. YOU ARE A GREAT VIDDER! It was an awesome profile! (I think that series is so, so good!!!) Seriously, somebody at some point has to get you very very drunk and repeat that to you a thousand times. Or you know, give you a brain-wiping drug and have you watch your own vids, so you'll be appropriately impressed. Then we can explain that they're YOUR vids. :)
