Dad and I took a short 32-hour trip to San Diego to see my sister in the hospital. She is not doing well; most people who had this surgery would be home by now, but her intestines were so blocked due the tumor obstruction that things aren't getting a lot better. But we got to talk with the idiot doctors and I got to be my usual confrontational self (I have no respect for medical people anymore, at all, and I just pepper them with questions, machine-gun style). The news is of course very bad, and today they are doing a procedure to put in a permanent port again, which caused her extreme hardship the last time -- they nearly killed her, and I'm not certain she can withstand their bungling again. The nurses are great, but my feelings for the specialists and doctors is very low. Assuming she is okay, though, I go down again Monday night, before, in theory, heading up to Escapade on Thursday, but that's turning into a whole other nightmare.

It was hard traveling with Dad. Very, very hard. But my iPod has become a total lifesaver, though I realize that mindless happy music is in short supply on the thing. I haven't really begun to put music into it, I still have 16 gigs left to make use of. I've been relying on the library to get hold of things I don't have before I put in tons of things I do have, but I've found they don't have a lot of the club mixes and dance songs I was really craving to listen to yesterday when our flight was delayed for over an hour (apparently I can never leave San Diego on time, it's a law or something), and the hip-hop discs are always too badly damaged to play. I still haven't done that file sharing thing, and just trying to figure out something like that right now is too much for me to handle; I should probably post a request on teh music community, but... the 50 fields you have to fill out for each song just overwhelms my spazzed-out brain right now. I feel like lately it's all I can do to get dressed. I realize the likelihood of people having any of these songs is really low, but, I had such luck on the Christmas music, I thought I'd see if anyone here might have any of these dance or hip-hop tunes as mp3s they would be willing to send me:

Anastacia -- Sick and Tired
Oceanlab -- Satellite
Deep Dish -- Flashdance
Dirty Vegas -- Walk in the Sun
Robbie Rivera -- Which Way You're Going
House of Pain -- Jump Around and Top O' the Morning

And since I hate asking for things without giving anything in return, here are some on offer (I'll only be able to leave these up for a short time, as I have to put my Escapade vid up soon and I'm running out of space). Right click to download, please, don't stream!:
Breathe by Telepopmusic You might be familiar with this from the Mitsubishi commercial a few years ago, and it was ubiquitous around the same time, even showing up on my beloved late Robbery Homicide Division.
This Misery by the Wild Colonials This is an old favorite, and the vocalist for the Wild Colonials is the guest vocalist on Breathe. She has a cool, husky voice that I love; if you like Mazzy Star's "Fade into You," or that song "Feed the Tree," you might like this.
Start the Commotion by the Wiseguys One of my all-time favorite dance tunes, but no one ever seems to know it when I request it of DJs. This was also a huge hit off a Mistubishi commercial a couple years ago. Maybe I should go to work for Mits's ad agency since we seem to have the same taste in music.
Fallen by Vib Gyor This is a new band producing some of the coolest stuff I've heard in a while. EW described them as a heavenly marriage of Sigur Ros and Coldplay, and they're not wrong. They have lovely, complex stuff.

Enjoy!

Hallo! I have an unholy love for Justine Suissa's voice so I have all her collaboration with Oceanlab: Satellite, Sky Falls Down, & Clear Blue Water. I'm sending you the Original Above & Beyond remix of Satellite via YSI (http://s34.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=2AF3ISLAIUKQH3OQL69RJZ2T44). Hope this helps. I think I have the original on my ipod but I have to check if you would prefer that one instead. If you would like more Justine Suissa song, just let's me know 'cause I love introducing her stuffs.

I, for one, am really glad to get an update from you. Good vibes for doing the hard thing and going down to S.D. with your dad. I hope the next trip is a little easier, travel-wise at the very least.

Is there anything I can make you in thanks for the songs? I mean, I don't have any of your requests, so I'm taking without giving back...and I've been wanting to give you something all week, but I just don't know what.

Oh, how cool! I had never heard her before Satellite, at least that I know of, and I just fell in love with that song and her voice. Thank you so much for the file! I'm looking forward to not having to punch buttons on the radio all the time, trying to catch it!

::bounces:: That would be fantastic -- and email is just fine! (Assuming it's easier for you --if YSI is easier, then by all means choose that!)

Many thanks, I'm probably going to play those songs to death, I'm sure.

What, you mean you crazy college kids don't all have kazaa or limewire or whatever the going concern is these days? You mean you can't access all the wonderful illegality of the internet for ME? Dammit, woman, get on the stick.

Nah, really, unless there's something cool and dancey and whatnot that you have lying around, I just like to share this stuff if I can. Pretty soon I won't be able to post music on my site though, as I'll be out of room, so I'm taking advantage of it while I can.

I know people download pirated movies and music, but I don't do it. I'd rather not have the guvment come after me.

I have plenty of Depeche Mode, some of which is dancey, so I'll make you copies of the disks and send them. There's also some fun/bouncy/quirky Oingo Boingo you might like in my collection. I don't carry around everything I have, and although I enjoy a lot of genres my collection is pretty limited. Damn money...I never seem to have enough of it to buy everything I want.

I wish I could help you with the songs, but I can't. Have you tried iTunes for any of 'em? I know it's 99 cents a song, but if it's a song you really love, 99 cents isn't bad at all.

*even more hugs*

I just d/l'ed the Anastacia and the Deep Dish, but the RR is taking a lot longer to get (though it just sped up a little). How shall I get these to you?

I have a whole load of pop, dance, hip-hop and etc. Request and I may have it.

Yeah, they've been really hit or miss with the dance stuff, more miss than hit, I've found. I'm not sure why the holes they have in their library are the ones I want most. The other thing about iTunes that's frustrating and why I usually go to the library first is that if I want to use a song for vidding, I can't convert it, which I found out the hard way with a couple of recent vids. Lately the used stores have been a total bust, too! I rarely have stuff that I can't find at all, but I figure, it can't hurt to ask!

I think I got all your Depeche Mode stuff that night you played me the songs, and I grabbed the ones I didn't have. I think I have all the Oingo, too, that I like on my collections, so really, don't worry about it! There were just a few obscure things I haven't found easily recently that I really wanted to hear; I find them calming when I'm getting really tense at the airport.

Oh, you are fantastic! Tres magnifique! I can do email just fine, if that works out for you (separate or zipped files), but if it's easier to put them up on YSI, let me know. Whatever is easiest, since I'm asking for such huge favors.

You don't by any chance have Pigeonhed's "Battle Flag" in the Lo-Fidelity Allstars' remix, do you? That's so obscure, and I have their original, but it's the remix that I'm waiting to get from the liberry.

The first song I heard of her was Burned with Desire, her collaboration with Armin van Buuren, on Siruis radio and then it spread from there. I haven't heard Satellite on the radio - didn't even know they're playing it. You're welcome & thanks for the songs you've uploaded.

There's a version apparently from the Coyote Ugly soundtrack by the Low Fidelity All-Stars (uncensored). Is that the one? Sometimes you end up at the whims of whoever wrongly labels their music, and since I'm not familiar with the music you're requesting, I can't verify too easily. :-) There's a radio edit, but it doesn't appear to be available at the moment.

I've got a bunch of c89 style music (mostly from last year because I have an mp3 player now and don't have to listen to the radio). If you like that stuff, I give you a bunch of other happy dance stuff.

Anyways, I'm emailing now.

That's the exact soundtrack I am waiting for from the library! I figure if it isn't the one I've heard on the radio, it'll be close enough. The original is even longer than the remix! And not as much fun, weirdly -- I often am ambivalent about club remixes for songs I like, but I thought this one was definitely more fun to listen to. Less cranky. ;-)

The worst part is that C89 never identifies songs! Makes me crazy and if I can't remember the specific lyric, I can't google it and match it up to their playlist. I'm missing my internet radio!

I've had a little bit of luck by going here (http://www.c895fm.com/2001/top40hits.asp) and trying as best I can to match up the name to the song. But the problem is that they play a lot of mixes that simply are not recorded anywhere that you can buy. They play a lot of special mixes. For example, I really liked their mix of "One More Try" by Carribbean Funk. However, when I tried to find that mix anywhere, it is not available.

I'm trying to use YSI, but it's just not working. It's been loading for like 10 minutes. My connection appears to be really crappy at the moment, but I can't figure out why.

If I can't get it to work with YSI, I'll give you a link to get it.

OMG, that's her! Okay, durr, I have no idea why I never made that connection, I'm usually pretty good with pegging vocalists (except maybe I didn't know her identity). Yeah, they played that a lot before Satellite came around, and I loved it to death. How cool!

These came through just great! thank you so much -- and the new songs are wonderful! That mix of Sick and Tired is really interesting, it's slower than the one I'd heard and it gives it a whole other kind of quality, much more worldweary and cool. I like it! Thank you for the wonderful stuff, this will defintely make the plane ride a lot easier on Monday.
