Last night:

[livejournal.com profile] movies_michelle and I are talking. I ask her, "So, you watch Atlantis, right? Can you fill me in on what it's about because I still don't understand enough to get what Mitch is going to be doing."
MM: Well, [blah blah] mission [blah blah] other galaxy [blah blah] they can't return home because they didn't have enough energy.
Me: [puts back of hand to head and slumps down on couch, closing eyes] "We can't go home, we're just too tired. We're drained, for God's sake. Can't we just stay here and rest?
MM: They have Epstein-Barre!
Later, Feochadn: We have ennui!

Later that night, watching the final episodes of Wonderfalls:
[livejournal.com profile] movies_michelle That bear is just disturbing. It's the lips.
[livejournal.com profile] feochadn It's the lips and the blinking eyes. And the barrel. But the lips move.
[livejournal.com profile] movies_michelle Bears shouldn't have lips.
[livejournal.com profile] feochadn Bears have lips. Not those kind of--
[livejournal.com profile] movies_michelle But they don't have lips like Mick Jagger that move!

I am so not-really-an-SGA fan that I barely knew what he was doing there either. At least it made the SG1 premiere make more sense to me :-)

My SGA problem is that I hate the women. I admit it, I hate the women. I like everyone else except Ford, although Ford suddenly got a little more interesting this time around. Yay evil.

It was nice to see Mitch, but... it was every bit as bad as I expected: he sits in a chair and barks commands, or stands and barks commands, or rushes through lines (does anyone ever take a moment to try to speak their lines so that people can understand what they're saying? Have they never heard of sound engineers in Canada?) and glowers. Big, big whoop. You are right -- the women *stink*. I could almost have forgiven the exposition as dialog where people had to *explain* the expositionary dialog at least two or three times each, and the dumb dentists' uniforms those guys were wearing, and the really bad wraith people, but then there were the women, and that pretty much tipped me over the edge. A couple people told me the one chick was cool, but she was terrible in that special canadian show way. I found her completely unbelievable and also annoying, stiff, and totally unengaging. And I can't even remember anyone's names... so I don't know which was Ford.

I guess I'm kinda letting it show that I don't think much of it, huh? Sorry... I really hate it when people piss on my fandoms, and I didn't want to piss on this before giving it a chance, but i just thought it was awful. It's cool that people can find something to like in it and they have a show to look forward to each week, but... I'm afraid I won't be one of them. I'm going to have to treat this like CSI: NY -- I fast forward through the parts that don't have Gary Sinise in them, and delete it off the TiVo.
