Once upon a time, in the Kingdom of Fandom, there lived a girl named Sandy. She came from a tiny (at that time) village called Vidders. Most of the people in this small hamlet practiced a not-very-well-known but highly sought after craft called vidding. Sandy loved to vid, and many of her friends in the village would come by and help her do her work, and much fun was had by all. The handiwork of the village spread throughout the kingdom.

One day, Sandy fell in love with a beautiful prince in a red uniform and a charming detective, both in a show called Due South. But not many people in the kingdom knew of their story or had seen their faces! So she set about making a vid that would recruit others into falling in love, and lo and behold, it worked! After that, Sandy made many other vids about the prince and the detective, but this held a special place in many people's hearts.

But unfortunately, time was not kind to her crafts. The village of Vidders grew larger and larger, and more technically complex, and the old ways were no longer practiced. Her first vid about the prince and the detective had warbles on the music, and sometimes, the visuals were so bad, those watching couldn't see what was happening. It made everyone sad.

One of Sandy's friends in the village decided to remaster some of the old vids made by the first craftspeople. Gwyneth wanted to make sure that everyone throughout the kingdom, especially the new citizens who had no idea about what went before, would be able to see and enjoy such crafts. And she wanted to remake one of the vids about the prince and the detective most of all, as a gift for her friend Sandy.

So Gwyneth asked other people to help her on these projects, and people of the village, especially [livejournal.com profile] justacat, set about doing the painstaking work of re-creating these treasures. Most of all though, Gwyneth needed help to remake Sandy's first Due South vid, so she called upon other people in the Kingdom of Fandom, especially [livejournal.com profile] movies_michelle and [livejournal.com profile] mlyn.

But alas! Everyone in the village was planning to travel to another faraway land outside Vidders for a celebration of vids, on Sandy's birthday, when Gwyneth wanted to give her the surprise! So, she asked Sandy's dear friend Rachael ([livejournal.com profile] wickedwords) if she could help by posting it to Sandy's vids site and to Rachael's Imeem account, so that everyone in the kingdom would know, whether they knew Gwyneth or Rachael or both. You see, Gwyneth knew that anything posted in the week of a gathering in the faraway land would be lost, because everyone went into a special place in their minds called con farr.

And so, it was almost a week early, because Sandy's birthday is the 9th of August, but Gwyneth hoped that Sandy would be happy all that time. And she planned to give Sandy her very own copy when they saw each other in the faraway land.

Oh, no problem - I love doing this stuff (and have become an expert at re-making MC title cards in PS :-D); glad I was able to help a little. I'm an Adobe whore - though I've discovered a way to bring my system crashing to its knees: have Premiere, Photoshop, and InDesign open all at the same time...
