Booze binge

I had to drop a package off at the little mailing center fairly close to my house today, and right next door is a liquor store. (Moonpuppy, your box is in the mail, and I sent you a response with details just in case it got junk-boxed again!) I figured since I had the car I might as well shop for my addition-warming party (anyone who didn't see an invitation from me, you're welcome to come if you are in the Seattle area on Jan. 5, from 7-11. If you aren't in the Seattle area but want to come, get in the car and drive here!)

I so rarely ever buy booze, and I never know what to get except for the things I know my friends are fond of, but one bottle seriously caught my eye: Redrum -- rum with fruit flavors. The bottle and the logo are freaking hilarious and I was going to buy a bottle till I saw they had some tiny sample bottles up by the register, so I grabbed a few. I don't even like rum much, but I absolutely had to try it. Really, seriously. Best booze name ever. EVAR.

And Nicole, they had a lovely cassis liquer there I picked up for kirs, much richer than that other stuff, so hopefully we can go to town on those.

I was given two bottles of wine this year. One called Gold because it has, wait for it, gold leaf in it, and one called Brazen Strumpet, because that's how I regularly refer to my cat Kameko (she's always throwing herself at people so they will pet her).

I stil have my empty bottle of Vampire wine. I was showing it off once and Eliade suggested that I use it as the centerpiece for a shrine to Spike. I always meant to do that, but never did. According to my friends, who can drink reds (I can't), it wasn't half bad.

So this is the good French creme de cassis? yum!!!! I'll be there with white wine in hand!

No, it's local! (I still have not seen that better French stuff, but our liquor stores are kind of... West Seattleish, I guess) It's really a cassis liqueur, but the bouquet is lovely and they recommend it for kirs (plus, gorgeous bottle). I'm really looking forward to trying it.
