Registering a domain - say, with a year of hosting - is relatively cheap these days. I use GoDaddy (http://www.godaddy.com) and they bill my hosting by the month. Believe me, I don't notice those four bucks. I think if you want to be viewed as a professional, a free site is not the way to go. [/two cents] Good luck with whatever you decide!
