Date: 2019-01-29 04:11 am (UTC)Right now, this experience is really showing me that there's no one there who cares about that--I've heard some horror stories in the past couple days that kind of...well, it's made me feel really hopeless about getting this sorted out. I am mostly agitated about the fact of people who made comments in my posts are now being spotlighted saying things they would never want to say nowadays, and even if I went in and deleted those things, I can't trust someone who has no standards like the poster of my old rant not to go in and put it back. Most people have told me that when they wrote in to fanlore, they were brushed off, or worse, insulted or ridiculed either publicly or on their private email/chat thing.
it feels like a violation of the trust of the community. I've gone back and locked the post, but the horse is out of the barn. I would have, if contacted, even been willing to offer a compromise, but they didn't care to do the bare minimum and even did things like call it an "essay" when it was a bunch of jumbled thoughts in the form of venting.
So I do really appreciate this. In a way I also kind of feel like I'm being gaslighted, because people are mocking this situation and it sounds like fanlore (I don't even know who's in charge of the thing, which is not good) doesn't care. That seems counterproductive to being a fandom resource.
