Date: 2020-04-01 03:12 am (UTC)5.03 - This is where this season just starts getting too complicated: too many plot lines, trying to hard to work the Crowes in to the seasonal arc. And just a lot of characters not being as smart as we know they are.
I think it's more irritating in this season because it's the 5th season, and most shows have this stumble in the 2nd or 3rd season when your expectations aren't as high and you don't know how good a shows is capable of being. So for them to lose the thread this far in is so frustrating.
The Kids Aren't All Right
Date: 2020-04-01 05:36 am (UTC)Raylan: "So, more than a $100?" haha
I hate this part of the Ava/Boyd storyline.
Raylan treats Loretta like a regular girl when she is most definitely not. It's a bit endearing actually, since though Loretta doesn't need to be babied or taken care of in a regular way, it's good that there's someone in her life that cares for her without wanting something from her.
Entrepreneur Dewey is weirdly endearing while still being a terrible person.
I really really like the conversation Raylan has with Hot Rod. It shoes what a dangerous man he is, not because he can shoot but because he will shoot.
I have mixed feelings about this social worker. I like her but I think they (the show) got the chemistry read wrong here.
Boyd cannot catch a break. Foiled again! No dope for you!
Good Intentions
Date: 2020-04-01 06:29 am (UTC)I want Raylan and Rachel to co-habitate for work purposes frequently. "Call me if you going to be late for supper." heeeee.
Xander! Why are you such a bad man! Typical Xander Berkley appearance -- always end up dead.
I remember hearing a story about a woman who bought a house that had a bunch of koi in a pond in the back garden, and found out that each koi was worth several thousand dollars each, some as much as $100k.
That is a very steamy scene with Body and that Miss Mara.

Date: 2020-04-01 06:13 pm (UTC)These episodes are emblematic of what I hated about season 5. They are so overly compicated and messy, and it was so frustrating in light of the focus on so many awful characters, particularly the ones played by terrible actors like Rappaport.
Re: The Kids Aren't All Right
Date: 2020-04-01 06:18 pm (UTC)This whole season just frustrates me so much--Raylan's spinning his weels and doing the same old thing, Art is suspicious of Raylan, the whole Boyd-Ava story is terrible and just gets worse and worse, and then we have to endure the Crowes, especially the egregiously terrible Rappaport. I'm already finding myself zoning out and not paying attention to a lot of it.
I also really didn't want this to be the story for Loretta, but I was glad to see her, and love Raylan's dialog to her.

Date: 2020-04-01 08:43 pm (UTC)Soooo much time spent with Rappaport! Why?!?? I mean, I can kind of imagine that it would have worked if a really good actor has been in the role. Someone who made the character cunning and scary instead of just a loudmouth, redneck dickhead that made everyone else seem uncharacteristically stupid because they couldn't kick his ass within 5 minutes...
