Date: 2020-05-21 04:06 am (UTC)OK, got that out of the way.
This episode feels like things are starting to line up again. The humor is dark, the villains are dastardly, Tim gets to be an asshole, and the story starts to get interesting again.
But mostly Sam Elliott. Tho I do miss the moustache.
6.3 - Still not a big fan of Ava as informant. But I did think they did a good job with making her actions ambiguous: is she setting Boyd up or is she working with him and feeding the Feds bad info/double crossing them in the end?
And Sam Elliott offers us a new form of intimidation we haven't seen in the show before: genial menace. Like he could be a mentor or a killer and it all depends on which benefits him the most.

Date: 2020-05-23 11:44 pm (UTC)(Deadwood never quite clicked for me, which is weird because I love so many of the actors that were in it and I'm fond of Westerns to begin with. Media is so weirdly subjective.)
...I now feel like a Tombstone rewatch is in order...
Cash Game
Date: 2020-05-21 04:59 am (UTC)BANTER. There's a fair amount of Tim/Raylan time in this and I love it. Why is Tim asking Raylan if he would still sleep with that woman if she were a nazi? I should hope not, but mostly it makes me wish we got to see the entire exchange.
I am just super thrilled whenever we get to see Rachel be the boss. *heart eyes*
Uh oh. Dillahunt. That is honestly my first reaction whenever I see him! Every time! lol. Has he ever played a nice character? I guess we've returned to the buy people's homesteads plot line.
That scene with Dillahunt and Rylan and Tim in the realtor's office was fascinating though I really just paid attention to the hate sparks flying between Dillahunt and Tim.
There are many Tim highlights in this episode though watching him wind up Choo Choo and that other dude is truly delightful.
I'LL LET MY BOY KNOW HE DODGED A BULLET. :D :D :D *more heart eyes* I'm gonna focus on the 'my boy' part.
"Long-winded peculiar way of speaking." heee
Despite the complete lack of subtlety on the part of Dillahunt and company, I more or less like the set up for this particular plot.
Re: Cash Game
Date: 2020-05-23 09:43 pm (UTC)But I always, always brace myself when I see him.
Tim winding people up is a reason for living in this terrible world.
Noblesse Oblige
Date: 2020-05-21 06:01 am (UTC)Boyd's bar, which I guess was Johnny's bar, has totally stopped pretending to be an actual bar. Do they even serve patrons anymore? This episode has a lot of uh oh Dillahunt in it.
Yay, we get Raylan and Rachel together for a bit. I like it.
I think this is the second time Raylan grabbed someone's balls.
Sam Elliot's smile really is something else.
I'm very fond of Jere Burns but I do not need to see him in a tiny gold bikini bottom.
I really do love Mary Steenburgen in this role. She's so manipulative and classy!
I forgot how tightly wound all the plot threads are with each other in this season. Katherine and Markham playing a lot of chess with their pieces. Of course they both overestimate themselves. It was fascinating to see Boyd adjust his attitude with Markham. A true pleasure to watch Walton and Sam act together.
