Free at last
Jan. 6th, 2010 01:06 pmFor those of you who remember me whinging about my year being a human target for the IRS and their inept, incompetent, disorganized, and malfeasant "audit" of my 2007 taxes, I got a call from my tax person last week telling me that they'd called her to tell her they were accepting my (perfectly legit) claim. And it was confirmed yesterday by mail in a letter to me (though they reserve the right at any time to come back and accuse me of something else entirely later on).
Seriously, almost an entire fucking year being fucked around by these fucking fuckwads. I got the first letter in February, and the call to my friend was on Dec. 29. And my case was mild -- I had no assets seized, didn't have to pay for an attorney yet, no liens... and yet it still cost me quite a bit of money and anguish and mental distress. I hate them all and I want them to die of a terrible disfiguring disease.

I'm glad that they're accepting your claim, but so sorry you had to go through such drama!

Date: 2010-01-12 05:25 am (UTC)My own IRS horror story: I once got a letter out-of-the-blue from them stating that they had discovered I'd made a $400 error on my taxes from 2 1/2 years earlier (which I didn't know until I got the letter, it was an innocent misunderstanding about how taxes were calculated on a one-time payment I had gotten), which with interest and penalties now meant I owed them $900. Which I had to pay within 30 days.
