Pretty much every person I've told this idea to looked at me as if I'd gone mad. But I really wanted to make it, and I like how it turned out. Hopefully someone else will, too.

It might have something to do with the fact that I released it a few days before VVC, too. ;-) Not my best timing. I'm so glad you liked it -- it means a lot to me, coming from you, truly.

And I have to ask, because so far searches have failed to show me anything in this regard and I am so invisible these days that I get depressed (this is the first vid I've ever had more than a couple comments for) -- what is Get Together, and is there a twitter thread I could find these things on? I'd love to see what people are saying! It makes me happy that someone else out there noticed it!

Oh, sorry! Get/Together is a slash meetup in Wellington, New Zealand. (It's not a traditional con, though they've been doing it for quite a while. It's informal, as I understand it, hence the name: it's the NZ fans, plus a few Aussies, and this year an American, getting together to talk excitedly about stuff for a weekend. It always sounds like SO MUCH FUN.) They have an LJ community to organize it: get__together. They do presentations and stuff, and, of course, they show vids. (Unfortunately, I think all the NZ Twitterers I know are locked, so there's no way to link you to comments on Twitter. Plus it was like two weeks ago, and that is an ETERNITY in Twitter time, so I'm not sure I could even find them anymore.)

I know some NZ fans on Twitter, and I was following along this year (as much as I could, given the time difference and everything) with Get/Together, so I saw some excited tweets about this vid. One of my friends said it was the best vid she'd seen in a long time, so I asked about it, and she sent me the link once the vidshow playlist was posted. And I was like, "Gwyn made it? Gwyn posted a vid and I didn't even KNOW?" I was deeply amused, because I've been watching your vids for like a decade and I only found out about this one because a friend who isn't even IN Cap/MCU fandom saw it at a fannish gathering in New Zealand. FANDOM, man.

But, hey, I found it in the end! And it is wonderful. (And I just watched it again, because I couldn't not, and this time I noticed and loved the progression on the repeats of the line "we are agents of the free." Niiiiiiice. Gonna be seeing new stuff in this vid for a while, yup.)

OH! I think I heard about that -- I have a feeling the American might have been Talitha78 (that might even be why anyone knew about the vid down there, who knows -- she did a panel at VVC that I co-modded with her, and we used OC as an example of pacing). Well, it's nice to know people were talking about it! Seriously, my stuff just doesn't get out there much, so it's always a thrill to think that more than a few of your obligated friends enjoyed something. ;-)

(And just for full disclosure, I did another vid for Cap2 called Shelter, which deals with Steve and his three relationships in the movie! I know what you mean about the diaspora, it gets harder and harder to track when people are releasing things into the wild unless you see people reblogging or retweeting or what have you.)

The cool thing about the way people see stuff in this vid is that I kept mentioning the idea, and everyone just was so…bemused by it, like they were trying to spare my feelings and saying, "Well, that's certainly *interesting*." And then when they watched it, they were oh, that's *interesting* in a different way, seeing the different layers in it. I guess it's a good reminder that sometimes you gotta stick with your vision.

PS: I love that weapons = spine, and I especially love how you build up to that one shot with Bucky having the gun ON HIS ACTUAL SPINE, like, wow. You kept the strongest trump card in your hand to the end and then played it perfectly.

And now I swear I will stop liveblogging my various revelations as I rewatch the vid.
