Hmmmm...that's hard to say, I think. I, personally, don't find it less intimate because there's a more direct impact when it's not out of focus--the blur can force an emotional distance, too, even if it's closer up.

I think, if it didn't have the superhero stuff, critics would have labeled it as a top political thriller. Which is a very interesting thing for a "comic book movie."
