New vid: Wasp Nest

Just in time to be subsumed under the tsunami from VVC, but when I'm down, I vid, I guess. I also don't know why I'm posting in the middle of the night, since even fewer people will see it than usual, but…here I am. I know this is a really unusual song choice for Natasha, people usually pick these girl power/fighty/harder songs, but I really thought this fit her in so many ways and I wanted to emphasize how she relates to other people, how she's changed, as well.

That was really moving, and thought-provoking about Natasha. I liked the images when the lyrics were repeating "You're a wasp's nest". Deep.

I also liked how you constructed the vid. Short clips with a lot of punch to them, that kept my interest even with the slower paced song.

Seriously, though, the vid really showed Nat's fellowship with each of the other Avengers while at the same time showing how alone and isolated she remains. Beautifully done!

I really like this. :) You're completely right, that this song fits her. The vid is a great showcase of how much Johansson brings to the role, from her stillness, her determination, to when you can see the calculations running through Natasha's brain.

the song is not the usual fare, but this vid beautifully illustrates who Natasha is/has become. I always love your vision of characters - you see so much, and find perfect ways to share that with viewers

This is gorgeous -- it's so unlike all the other Tasha vids, the stereotype of which I guess is the kicky fight montage set to a high BPM song (which I LOVE, don't get me wrong) -- it's so quiet, like you managed to catch all the little quiet sides of her that nobody sees, the real person under all those flashy glamorous masks. It's like we're getting the viewpoint of someone who really knows her well, underneath all the hype, and loves her. (For me it also really highlights ScarJo's acting, which I think gets buried under all the kicky fight scenes - talk about microexpressions!)

Okay, so. That totally choked me up. I always love vids that kind of...manage a still-point perspective of a character, if you will, because even when the character is intensely frenetic, I always feel like something new is revealed. And this vid definitely got at some new connections and perspectives, even in the footage that I thought I knew so well. And seriously, this is such a great showcase of what ScarJo has brought to the role, and I get so angry at people who disparage her casting and blame any of the Tasha characterization issues on her, like that's not all about the fucking fetishizing of the jackass male writers and directors--but that's a rant for another time and place, and not for this beautiful piece of art that you have made. I love the song choice, I love the clips, I love Tasha's stillness and her action and her fierceness and her fear. I love her choices, and how she owns them, and how she commits to the people she chooses as her own, even when she knows they don't commit to her, even when she expects they will let her down and is proved right (or, sometimes, only sometimes, is proved wrong and gets people who deserve her). She is a Red Queen, and you have put her at the center of the board. I love that.

I liked the music - I don't watch many vids (because I think the emotional connection to the music is a major part, and I'm just not familiar with much music nowadays) but the steady, almost businesslike pace suited this imagery of Nat at work.
