No, really, what would you like? This next week is going to be utter hell for me. All the student projects are in, and they are universally awful. And they're long. And it means I have to read not only 50+ pages of bad editing, but 50+ pages of bad writing, per student, because I have to read the pieces to find out where the students aren't doing good edits. Arg.

So I think it would be a good idea to do something fun (for values of fun that don't involve some kind of torturous navel gazing or editing). Which leads me to you.

As I've mentioned here lately in my sparse, rare posts, I find it really hard to post. I just feel so crappy about my place in the world, especially in regards to fandom, which is what this journal was for. And it's like people who've been kicking me are just kicking me even more when I'm down. All that leads me to not want to engage here, just because I really feel so painfully dissociated with people.

Doing something someone else requests would be good for me. Request of me something! Want a vid commentary on something I've done? Or a story commentary? (Not that I've any experience doing a commentary, but I can try!) Maybe a five things? Or possibly you've been saving some burning question only I can answer (hey, it could happen). Or posit me a meme. As long as it's not mean, I'll do my best.

Help me help myself get through the next week. Obi-Wan Flist, you're my only hope.

ILU

*snuggles* I owe you an email, btw, but I am being email avoidy at the moment.

Oooh Five Things. I suck at coming up with the concepts, but any five things about Ed Lane would make me go :D :D :D a lot. Or perhaps D: D: D: depnding on what direction you took it (but in a good way and stuff)

Did I mention ILU?

First, I'm so sorry that you've had people in your life who put you down rather than pick you up. That's a horrible experience and it's so hard to see when you're on the inside. I hope that, though you're still finding it difficult to post, you're at least feeling more like yourself. *hugs*

Second, as if you're surprised, I would LOVE a vid commentary on Twilight Zone. I love that vid SO MUCH and would be fascinated to know some of what you were thinking/trying to do when you made it. Aaaaaand now I'm going to have to go and watch it again. Oh, the hardship!

Good luck with the scary papers!

You could tell me your five favorite Spike/Buffy or Mag 7 stories! That would make me happy. =D Or vids, that would work too. I'm feeling all extra-fannish lately and I'm totally in consumer mode. Recs welcome!

*hug*

I'm sorry this week's going to suck. Let me know if there's anything *I* can do to make it better ok?

You have my sympathy!

Hmm. Name five strong female characters. Now name five sweet male characters. Pair them up at random. What music would they dance to? Make a list and post it. Or, you know, just ignore this!

Oooh, this is a lovely prompt. And maybe a story about your favorite pairing, from a drabble on up.

Hope the week is not as awful as anticipated.

I'm sorry you're facing such a dire future (here's hoping you survive!). anything I can do to make it better?

five times in Mag7 that cause you to stand up and cheer

or

a bit of meta on how you match song/fandom when you vid - I've never understood just how one decides Song X is perfect for Fandom Y

I've been terribly remiss in keeping up with my online pursuits... and I find it sort of synchronistic that I would have just reread Cold Enough to Snow and wanted to wander in and tell you just how much I love your story.

I hate it that you're feeling so overwhelmed but have no advice other than to hang on... and don't let them get you down. Illegitimi non carborundum and all that.

My offer for distraction isn't dissimilar to the ones asking for your thoughts/reviews/raves on your favorite M7 fic.

Finally, my arrows full of hope and peace of mind and the proverbial broken ankles for the bastids are being shot your way.

(that old Irish blessing; And if he can not turn their hearts,
May he turn their ankles,
So we may know them by their limping. )

{hugs} I have a couple of friends who are teachers and they despair of their students this year. I don't know what it is. Have you seen the previews to the film about teachers called Waiting for Superman? I'm not even a teacher and I want to see it!

Oh, can I second Merryish and the rec for Mag7 stories? And I'd loooove to know which episode of Mag7 was the one where you knew you were in love. The episode or moment where you knew you were getting dragged down the rabbit hole and were happy to just go with it. =}

Oh wow, a true challenge! That is a great thing for me to keep in the back of my mind as I review these things -- it will help distract me from the "I want to kill you" thoughts and make sure I keep my comments helpful and kind instead of the mean and petty I wish to be. ;-)

OMG, Dine, the students. I just... I don't know why they can't know this stuff. I realize they are students, but... some of these people are older than I am and they don't seem to have a lick of sense.

Oh, I could easily do those five. THat will be FUN. And vid meta. Yeah, song choice is a thing for me -- and I love finding songs for other people, so that would be a great meta to do.

Always!! Pros is my once and future fandom. It's so sad that some of the old BOFQs won't let us put some of the old treasures up online, isn't it? I need to sort through things and jog my memories, but I know a few of them aren't online anywhere. Fanlore here I come!

Oh, wow, thank you so much. It's funny how that story always comes back to me, years later, and brings me connections with new people all the time, or revives old connections. I feel really honored that something I put out into the world is able to do that for people.

I swear to god, I am the worst possibly person to teach people, because I'm so impatient, and I fear that a lot of the crap going on with individuals in my life bleeds into my professional life in that regard, which is not good.

Is there something in the water? Maybe it's that all the stupid people have been let go in jobs (along with the smart) and they're all taking classes to make themselves marketable in our horrid economy. Gah! I had not heard of that movie but I have a feeling I will be first in line. I keep talking with a couple of my fellow instructors in this certificate program and we want to go out for REALLY BIG DRINKS after the year is over.

More Mag 7, that should be fun and easy. Mmmmm.

I want a vid commentary on that Mulder/Skinner vid with the Pretenders song! Or a Weevil/Veronica shipping manifesto! Or your five favorite Spike stories and why! Or a post about Vulcan! Um. Apparently I want a lot of things from you?

It sounds like you're going to be pretty busy this week, but if you'd like to meet up for dinner one night (my treat!) let me know!

Actually, there are a few ST classics that I'd like to see online even more than Pros (especially Courts of Honor). At least most of the Pros stuff that won't go online is available in print.
