New vid from VVC: Hallo Spaceboy

A couple years ago, cesperanza and I started talking about this vid, but we'd bring it up and then forget about it, until this year, with David Bowie's death, it seemed the time to do it. It was fun to collaborate with someone again, and I think the end result turned out pretty good.

This vid shows Steve as the truly impressive badass he is--that he has to be, to have survived what he has-- and yet not as he appears in a lot of fanfic. We see him as gentle, and somehow not so incredibly fast-reacting as he has to be. Bucky, maybe we allow better for that explosive speed??

Yeah, I think he often doesn't get to show off his moves, you know? But also, this is the modern world to him, in a lot of ways, that "chaos is killing me" thing, and I think that's what made the song choice so inspired. I'm glad you enjoyed it!

This is so great! I'm starting to feel like I've seen a lot of Steve & Bucky vids, but you found a new angle and worked it really well.

It's definitely a higely vidded fandom, that's for sure. But it's great to hear that you thought this was a new angle--we both really wanted to examine that aspect and I'm glad it turned out so well for you!

Aw, thank you--yeah, I think Cesperanza's song choice was just super inspired as a way to especially tell Steve's story, because even though they're both time-travelers and the "chaos is killing" them, Steve's got a tragedy that is easy for people to ignore, he's so quiet and brave that people don't really see how much he's suffering.

Iiiiiiiiinteresting!

I liked the choice of music a lot--not many people use Bowie for vids (that I've come across, anyway), and when they do, it's usually is more melancholy and slower stuff.

That was an excellent match of fighting and percussive cues, and I'm always intrigued by the examination of Steve as super-soldier/weapon since so often the focus is on the "man out of time" aspects and his grief.

Yeah, it was really interesting to me, coming around to see Cesperanza's vision after she'd suggested the song, which for her was just them--the more I listened to it and the more we talked I could start to see the way Bowie really nails all those strange things about their time travel…it was really cool. I'm so glad you enjoyed it!!
