Going to California
Feb. 19th, 2003 03:02 pmOff to Escapade con in the early a.m. (Heading out to Eden, yea brother...) So many of my good friends won't be there this year that it's a little sad, but at least a few of my chummiest chums will still be arriving barring terrorist activities, horrendous weather, or mechanical failures.
Mostly it's a chance for some sun in the rainiest, coldest month here in the drizzly northwest, and to talk fandom, show off our shiny new vids, and eat and drink entirely too much (not to mention the cucumber sandwiches). I work on the vid show as a volunteer, so lose a lot of socializing time to that, but despite the work, it's become quite a regular event for me. My travelling companion T and I always spend the afternoon before driving up to Santa Barbara (though this time it's in the charmingly named Oxnard) wandering around some neighborhood in the LA area; this year we're going to spend more time than a drive-by checking out West Hollywood and Silverlake. A couple years ago we did Rodeo Drive and Beverly Hills, and were lucky enough to run into James Marsters on Rodeo Drive. Gotta love LA.
Pulling the sunglasses out of storage!
