I can't even begin to think about or listen to the war stuff. I just can't handle it. Things were bad enough today in other aspects, this made me even more downhearted. But ABC actually managed to make this worse. Because it's all about me! Me, I tell you!

They pre-empted Veritas and Miracles to repeat ad nauseum our fearless (gack) leader's let's go kick some foreign ass speech. And no other network pre-empted their primetime programming for this. Now, what little comfort I could take in life, I felt, would come from watching the Skeeter get banged around by some paranormal force, and hearing Angus's baritone purr as he flirts with Skeet. And zen Arnold Vosloo on Veritas? Well, that would soothe the savagely depressed breast.

At this point, the Miracles ep Hand of God has been postponed I think at least three, possibly four times. We'll probably never see it. And I worry that ABC will be showing these at some ungodly hour where I'll never find them, even with the Tivo, like tonight at 3 a.m. And I have no way of finding out, as far as I know.

Sometimes, when you feel like you have no control over anything and the world is going to eat you alive, little things like a tv show can make a big difference in your psyche's health. As stupid as it sounds, it made me feel less like I wanted to hide under my bed and weep uncontrollably with my arms over my head. Sigh.

I am so right there with you. And, yes, feeling small and petty, too, but that is not stopping me from being royally pissed at ABC for PRE-EMPTING my SHOW!!

We may be small and petty, but we are mighty! And mighty pissed!

Love your icon, btw, and I'm not even of the sparkly persuasion! Very cute.

I Want My MTV

My local news station had a news commentator who said the news networks have already planned out the entire coverage of this war. 24 hr coverage for the first 3 days, with most shows returning to normal status after the second week (they expect the war will be over by then). The basketball season coverage will be moved to ESPN so it can proceed without interruption.

To quote the commentator: TV advertisers are more worried about TIVO than Sadam.

Our countries motto should be: the merchandise must flow.

I don't know why, but I think I'm actually MORE amused by the idea of basketball being moved to ESPN so that it can go on uninterrupted. Because, after all, sports are more important than pre-war countdown coverage, and pre-war countdown coverage is more important than dramas, and dramas are more important than...

Have faith in TiVo, gwyn, if they have at least 24 hours notice, they should find rescheduled stuff. Just make sure your top priority shows have the highest season pass rankings. I doubt the major nets will burn off new prime time episodes late night, either -- that usually happens when a local station preempts but the network doesn't (like for a local sports game).

Also a good place to keep an eye is the Season Pass Alert forum at tivocommunity.com. I've never noticed a season pass issue that wasn't already listed there when I went to look.

BTW, can anyone send me the first three eps of Miracles? :) The first one I saw was the one with the scary little girl a couple of weeks ago. (Yes, my interest is definitely a sign of imminent cancellation, in case there's any bloody doubt...)

Cool, this just came in when I was writing the other post! I had never even heard of the tivo forum, I'll check that out, and thank you for pointing out to me about the pre-empted eps -- I think I was definitely thinking of sports related moving, but that's been largely my experience. They've twice moved off Miracles for that stupid-ass Michael Jackson crap, so I'm dubious about the future. But then, the fact that *I'm* interested in this pretty much means it's a goner, I was just hoping to get enough eps to vid with, and the one they showed this week was really not that great, and not terrific for vidding, so I'm desperate for a few more better eps. (My track record so far this season? One of out 7 shows I was on the fannish side of survived)

I have all of them on tape -- I've dumped down the first two to tape, unfortunately, but if you're willing to take copies... The pilot, which is still the coolest ep, was Tivo'ed in high quality rather than best, because I really thought I wasn't going to pay attention to it (little did I know!). The rest are in best. So far there's the pilot (kid can heal people, introduces everyone), the airplane one, and the excorcisty one with the possessed patient. E me if you're okay with tape copies!
