I should probably not post this because I've already discovered errors (errors, she cried hopelessly!) due to my own stupidity in not saving a word change and then Word's stupidity with those asinine "special characters" like ellipses that don't show up in html, but anyway... new story up, such as it is. Will have to be fixed tonight.

A Brief History of Now is a Willow's eye view of Spike and Buffy right around after Storyteller. Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] sweet_ali for the beta -- I hope that I've managed to work around the problems and make it a little more involving.

And I actually was having a dream about interviewing Alison Hannigan this morning, for some cool magazine, and she and I were getting on famously and she was telling me wonderful gossip, and then my beloved but hated kitty, who is the most frustrating, self-absorbed, selfish, monomaniacal, antisocial, annoying and insane creature on the planet (well, okay, with the exception of a couple fans I know) decided that I really did want to wake up at about 4:30 a.m. and feed her, so I not only didn't get to hear more great dream-gossip, but I also can never go back to sleep when I'm yanked out of what little REM I get per night. More feh.

Oh, Gwyneth, this was great! Not only was it wonderful to get some of the old Willow back, I was utterly and completely "involved" in the story she was describing.

I loved her insights into Spike and the maturity with which she discussed how she finally understands Buffy's distance.

Willow has always been so needy and childish when it comes to people's attentions, but you've made her an adult in this story, and it looks good on her.

Thank you!!!

I really have missed my "old" Willow, the one who was a good friend and really tried to understand people, so it was fun trying to write her as a grownup with the past and the pain.

Oh, thank you!! ANd I don't know why, but I think you should keep this icon past Easter because it's fricking hilarious. I guess because I used to always eat the ears first, too, but I always, always felt guilty about it. ;-)

Hey! I was just gonna email you to see if you got the beta work on your story since i hadn't heard back from you about it. But, hey, look at that! You did! And you definetly brought the story together :) The mixing up of the paragraphs, bringing in the Monster-of-the-week plot point and shuffling in the exposition paragraphs later was very helpful. I knew you could figure out a way to bring us in quicker! And that little bit is all that it needed :)

And like i said before, terrific Willow-voice and I just loved all your detailed work. As always, wonderful, sweetums! Can't wait to see what else you crank out.

yes, I'm a greedy, greedy fangirl *g*

I wondered if you might be having either yahoo problems again, or if the fam just got too damn much to take. ;-) I didn't want you to think I was pestering you to death in e-mail, so I went ahead and made the changes and just kept my fingers crossed they worked. Yay team!! Once I could see how it read to someone else, the idea for fixing was fairly easy-- to me, that's the biggest value of a beta.

Glad i could help then!

Grr! Yahoo bounced your email. Which means i just received it tonight actually. It's really been recently that I've been having a problem, as many have. Next time you send me work, I have another email address that I will give to you to use that I haven't had problems with as of late :)

But yes, my dear, it came out beautifully.

I've never been glomped before! Hell, I haven't even been glommed that I can remember! Whee!!! (And suddenly I have Crazy Love in my head, only with "you give me fic, fic, fic...")

Well it's about damn time. Glomping is the "fighting form" of hugging, involving throwing oneself onto another person and never letting go until peeled off by third party. Little children are excellent at glomping, though no one has perfected it like the fangirl. For instance, I have vowed that should I ever see JM in person... major glomping would be inevitable. ;D

I have Crazy Love in my head, only with "you give me fic, fic, fic..."

Lol.

You made me have crying time. Really great. Willow's wisdom is hard-earned, she's humble but her insights are so grounded in her new understanding. Compassion for others and certain compassion for herself. I miss Tara almost as much as she does. Tara was jewel.

You know what I like most about S-7? The shift from referencing the Buffy the "girl" to Buffy the "woman"

Thank you writing this. It's gonna be hard to get back to the comedy of Nicolette after this.

You know, it's funny, at the risk of sounding stupid, I actually made myself have crying time, too. ;-) Sometimes when you're writing about something that hits close to home, it's like accidentally slicing your skin -- and stuff pours out you didn't really want to.

t's gonna be hard to get back to the comedy of Nicolette after this.

Oh no, don't say that!! Because man oh man, Nicolette = serious yummy to me.

Another masterpiece. Insightful and oh-so-beautiful, and it made me all teary and heart-archy! The Spuffy was sexy and sweet as ever, and I love your kinder, gentler but still in-character Buffy.

Willow’s voice was spot-on, and I adored how you juxtaposed her relationships with Buffy and Spike. Nice observations about the ‘war time’ relationship that is Wennedy.

Just all around wonderful! I can’t wait for your next work!

Thank you, thank you -- it's lovely to hear something like that from someone when you just love their stuff too(man, I look at the people who've written in here today and I'm like Lucky Girl or something!!).

(Hey, I don't suppose your travels are taking you anywhere near the Northwest, are they? I wish you were coming to Seattle!)

You do have quite a who's who list of admirers here, Gywn! Bask and enjoy - you totally deserve it!

Unfortunately, I'm not going to Seattle, although I truly wish I was. Washington State and Oregon look totally amazing and my old boss is on my case about not visiting his home city of Vancouver (which is, apparently, far superior to Toronto in every way ;)). Plus, it'd be very cool to meet you and try to leech some of that talent...;)

Wow.

Gwyn, this was wonderful. Seriously. I really, really loved it. The voices, the story, the frame that you used, all of it. It was great. Thanks so much for posting it.

I just love your fic. This is beautifully touching. It sounds so much like the wiser, more insightful Willow I wish we had seen more of this season. It's so good to have Willow acknowledging her loss of Tara, another thing that's been missing. Amid the chaos of the battle with the First you've captured a poetic, lyrical sadness in the Buffy/Spike relationship, but this story is so satisfying that I'm happy. I'm happy that Willow recognizes Buffy and Spike's love for each other. Thanks for filling in these emotional blanks.

I have to admit, this is more of my wish-fulfillment in that I love Willow still, despite everything, and we get these occasional glimpses of her, the old Willow, through the new, and I wanted to write about her through a prism, in a way -- reflecting on them reflects through her. I feel like in all the hugger-mugger going on sometimes, parts of her have disappeared, as have parts of Buffy and Spike -- their stories. But hey, that's what fics are for, right? ;-) Thank you so much for saying such lovely things. (Love the icon, btw!)

Thank you so much!! Sad and sweet and hopeful pretty much defines how I feel these days -- I guess I shouldn't be surprised it would come out in the fic. ;-)
