gwyn: (bpal)
Even though I was cursing the post office for taking a day off in honor of ex President Ford, it only put my BPAL mail-a-palooza back by one day, so I can't get too grumpy, considering every day has brought me a treat of gorgeous smellies in the mail. After joining a community where people were posting their sales/swaps, I was able to pick up a number of things that I was interested in trying, including some LE bottles, one of which was my most-wanted fragrance, Snow White, from last year; being a n00b, I had little chance of getting it even though OMG, perfect fragrance. You can actually smell the snow in it. It's just incredible. And I got a couple bottles of Smut, my other loved scent so far, and lots and lots of lovely imps. I have found three very distinct, perfect smells for me: Snow White, Smut, and Lady of Shalott (the heavenly gardenia in it is even better than Anick Goutal's insanely expensive Gardenia Passion), they love me and I love them. It was great fun to open the mail every day and find a padded envelope; I would tear into them with a frenzy and sniff everything with glee. So many still to try!

Then on Saturday I got my first ever order from the lab, with the Purple Phoenix LE and a bunch of imps. My first unopened smellies! Such joy. It was all very exciting. I'm pretty much convinced that I will have to sell everything in my house to pay for this habit -- there's an icon on one of the communities that says, "Crack would be cheaper," and they are so not kidding. But it's like, I have to try them all! I must find somoene who has ___!" It's very addictive, and I say this as someone who has never had the least bit addictive tendencies. It does, however, make me feel good when I smell nice things. So. (And now I'm hoarding my 40% full bottle of Snow White because I'm afraid I'll never make a score like that again -- I'm fairly convinced I got it only because it was posted later on NY's eve, and I have no life.)

But after today, no more smellies in the mail for a while, as I've run out of purchases. Woe! Still, I have packages galore of home improvement stuff coming that I've ordered from all the January sales, so money is still trickling out betwixt my fingers. I'm behind on getting bids for the kitchen remodel/addition to the house, but I'm terrified of it, I don't know what I'm doing, so instead I do things like get new mattresses and beds (which I desperately need) and shower heads and other things that I don't have to talk to construction people about, who probably see someone they can totally screw over in this naive, stammering woman. I would have started the project a long time ago, but I kept finding excuses, because it really does terrify me.

Ordering perfume is way, way more fun.
