Emma update
Mar. 2nd, 2007 04:18 pmThanks to everyone who's been so helpful and supportive in all this stuff with Emma. I just don't know what I will do without her, and as much as this is killing me financially, I am pretty much willing to pay anything to keep her with me as long as it's feasible for her.
I had to take her back to the vet today. I feel so bad -- two visits in three days, and she is just miserable. But she hasn't had a bowel movement in over three days, and I know from the surgery experience that everything health-related, as they said on Scrubs, "all comes down to poo." She also had what seems like a smaller seizure yesterday morning, and she's really not eating much except her treats. I get the impression she's having trouble tasting and smelling her food, and the treats are so much more powerful taste-wise that she's even more responsive to them than normal. She always seems listless and weak, and I can tell she's losing weight by the hour.
They X-rayed her and she does have pretty bad kitty constipation, enough that her colon is swollen twice the size. So they kept her and are giving her nasty things like enemas and also hyrdrating her (that was weird -- it was like she had acquired a buffalo hump). I get to go pick her up soon. They are sending her pee and blood down to Texas for the only place that does pancreatitis diagnosis. So then we see if this is kidneys related, pancreas related, etc. He said right now, he thinks the seizures aren't neurological but related to all this stuff with her innards. We'll see later.
I think the worst part is that they don't know we're trying to help them. She is so afraid and so helpless and it makes me feel evil, doing this to her. But I don't want her to feel so bad that she can't even use her litterbox. Poor kid -- she actually spent all day yesterday climbing in and out, in and out, until she finally just gave up and laid down in it.
