Man, I can't even count it anymore, I'm so tired. Spent the whole weekend trying to get rid of the layers upon layers of gypsum dust in the house, which I've barely made a dent in. But Brent has most of the tile floor done by now, and will grout it all on Wed. I wasted my entire day driving over to the peninsula, just outside Poulsbo, to see a concrete company about doing my countertops. It was the most horrible drive, made worse by the crappy directions the woman gave me and the fact that MapQuest sucks dead rats through a straw. I got horribly lost and was nearly at the Hood canal bridge by the time I realized that they were both full of crap. I found it, over an hour later, only by my own innate sense of mappiness -- not only would MapQuest refuse to give me directions from Tacoma and would only give me directions via ferry, but they actually had the wrong numbers on some of the highways. And on top of that, i didn't even like what I saw, and they're talking 4-6 weeks, which means still no kitchen until mid December. I just don't know what to think. The original guy has just completely disappeared, but Brent says one of his assistants indicated we were still on schedule. I feel like crying, but Brent told me to wait to cry until we know for sure.

Anyways. Here are painted wall pics, and floor tile pics. Neither is done justice by the digital camera and web coloring. The pain is a kind of medium violet, both blue and lavender color, and the floor tiles are a deep blacky charcoal with washes of silver irridescence and shot through with deep bronzey brown. They're really gorgeous. And they look nice kind of butted up against the hardwood floors, which I decided to go ahead and have refinished, at least in the living room, while most of the stuff was out. I don't know if I'll have the money, but... man, having gorgeous kitching floors but crappy hardwoods seems retarded.

So the other day, Olive got in a bad fight with the new neighbor kitties. There are three of them, and they are all twice her size. Unfortunately, they really like her yard. She seemed okay afterwards, but a few days later she was very sick, limping badly, and I waffled on the vet, because I just didn't want to make her more miserable. But she was obviously suffering. After a few more days, she started slowly getting better, and when I scratched her, I found all the scabs from the fight. Friday I accidentally scratched the one in front of her tail off and picked it up to examine it. In the scab was an embedded claw. Not a claw sheath, but an actual claw. No wonder the poor kid was hurting! What a goofus.
