What a week I'm having
May. 17th, 2008 01:02 pmProbably no one else will know what that subject line is from (because not that many people would admit to it as a favorite movie). But what a week. The death flu knocked me flat on my ass. I don't even think I had the flu, really, but maybe, who knows. I never seem to have fevers according to the thermometers, but I sure felt like I did. I'm still really weak, and still coughing, and still stuffed up a bit, but today at least I feel like I'm among the living. I didn't think it was possible to sleep this much.
My joints just ached and ached and nothing seemed to help in that regard. I still had work to do, though, so I had to keep taking lying down breaks and then going back to the Crazy French Clients. Sort of shunted off the book but now I have to catch up with that. Unfortunately, the CFC are so under the gun because of the large charity's mishandling of everything that they're going to do things I advised them not to do, and they're calling them "design decisions." Originally, I'd been excited about having my name on it as copyeditor, but now I'm not sure I want that, as it will make me look like I don't know anything about typography and presentation, two things I do know a lot about. (Foot marks and inch marks are not quotation marks and apostophes, and they are not design decisions! Gah.) Too many cooks who don't even know what a spoon is in the kitchen, not doing anything on schedule, and it is so frustrating.
Tomorrow some friends are coming over to help me lay bricks down in the mudpit area around the addition. I am trying to save up some strength for that. But you know you're a sicko when you wear a turtleneck and sweatshirt and it's in the 80s. My neighbors clearly think I'm a freak. I could go the rest of my life without getting this sick again, thanks. I'm so behind on my vidding project, I want to cry.
