Everyone's justifiably outraged about the Onion's heinous attempt at a joke op-ed on rape, but guys, the thing that is making me much more sick today (seriously, I am so enraged I'm literally fighting to not throw up) is in [personal profile] ginmar's LJ, about a surgeon genitally mutilating young girls at Cornell University, and then molesting them with vibrators to follow up on the surgery. With their parents' dispensation. I can't even... I have no words. And even worse, I don't know if anything can or would be done -- the study Jezebel mentions was done in 2007. There's no information on this fuckwad being stopped.

I can't even... arg. I have to go focus on work and try to calm down. I hate people so much right now, especially men. And that's something I can't stand, but jesus. Jesus. This is just sick. I have this magnet that says "If they can put one man on the moon, why not all of them?" and right now I feel like that so much. It was too long to put in a tag, sadly.

You guys, I'm so happy (well, maybe happy isn't the word) to see everyone reposting the Cornell story. Maybe the more people who hear about it, the more something can be done. I think prison is too good for that fucker and everyone who participated, but it's the most I could hope for in this world. I want to see their lives destroyed. I really do.

Anyway. I have to concentrate on other things and try to calm down. So today is Day 18 - Favorite title sequence

I posted the Band of Brothers titles yesterday, and those are definitely among my favorites. But in the same year that saw some of my favorite "new" shows hit the airwaves, all of which were cancelled except one, and many of which had fabulous credits, like Firefly, came a short-lived show called Push, Nevada. It was an odd show in many ways, but I thought really interesting and it nudged around a lot of edges of envelopes. Since it was on ABC, though, it died quite quickly; like another similar show on their network called Maximum Bob, they just didn't know what to do with it. It was quirky with a capital Q.

The rumor was that Trent Reznor did the theme, or that the guy who did the Closer video did these credits. I still don't know if any of that is true, but I loved these titles nonetheless. Especially the weird little "Poosh Neevada" at the end.
