I've only seen bits and pieces of the series--not enough to even catch many of the character's names--so I was very impressed at how clearly you were able to establish the relationship between these two. As so many others have mentioned, the "photograph" effect was an especially nice touch. The thing that really stuck out for me, though, was how you were able to convey how far they had journeyed together, and not just geographically. That sense of time and distance crossed stayed with me.
