So, last week, [livejournal.com profile] hobbituck gave me a Vox invite, even though I still am a little befuddled why everyone is running over there and what it was about. But hey. It seemed like some kind of desperate land grab, and since I never know what's going on electronically, I figured I should get in on the ground floor because I get tired of running around going, "huh? What?" all the time. Not that this in any way stops me from asking those questions. So, I have an account that I can't foresee using much at all, but you are welcome to either ... uh, neighborhood?? me, or tell me your account so I can... neighbor you back, or whatever they call it over there. It's http://gwyn.vox.com/ for your informational purposes.

Also, I am on the lj chat thing, and thanks to [livejournal.com profile] tzikeh, I have a nifty knew chat interface for the Mac, but I still don't have anything on the work computer, so I don't know how often I'll be on. I have to switch accounts for the work one, and it's such a pain in the ass and they always lose my password, and the tech people just have no idea what to do with someone who works remotely in another part of the country, so there's only one person who can help me when things go pear-shaped. I'll try to find something as nice as Adium is for the Mac (what would Windoze users rec? Are there any pleasant, nicely designed little interface freewares out there for accessing the Jabber thingie? Adium is just so cute it's hard to beat, but unfortunately, this computer is where I'm at most of the week).

Last Friday, I screwed up a lot of my job in the afternoon. I had four different people IMing me at a furious pace, hundreds of emails flying around, people making last minute changes to the front page I was building, and on and on. I had just got back from a goodbye lunch for the co-worker who trained me and who has been the other constant work presence here on the west coast with me. I was very sad, and very sick, because something I was eating (I think it was challah bread, of all things) every day for about four days was making me really sick till I figured out what it was. One of my newbie bitch co-workers, who I can't stand more and more each day and am so depressed about being stuck with as my two wonderful fellow CEs leave, was just constantly pointing out emails I missed, things I was doing wrong, etc. etc. ad nauseum. Today, my supervisor mentioned to me quietly that an important piece had been done wrong and was that way all weekend, but when I went in to change it, it looked right. We thought there was some bug, but it turned out to be my error. I'm always the first person to point out my fuck-ups, in fact, I even take the blame for shit I don't do. But this poisonous, pinched cow had to send to the whole list what I was doing wrong, and talking about me in the third person -- "she put these in the wrong field, she should have done this, blah blah" and I just could not freaking believe it. My supervisor immediately emailed my boss about it. We can't believe we're stuck with these nasty rotten people, and the good people are gone, and... gah. It is such a Hobson's Choice here. I really don't want to go back to commuting right now, and I have so many plans for the house that it doesn't feel right to do anything precarious. But my god, I hate those girls. Our newest addition seems quite nice, but I don't know her much. It will be a long while before I get to. And my supervisor is going on maternity leave in October. I'm doomed.

Lastly, I have two Vox invites for the first people who send me their email addresses. And more movie quotage later.

Er... here? fenris_wolf0 at yahoo.com

I guess.

PS: work, 100% behind you. It's not the actual work one does that we should be paid for, it's the aggravation and the stress resulting from the number of people who play office politics. Argh.

I don't know why I'd get an account there, either, but if I don't and there's another fannish paradigm shift, I'd be sitting here wondering where everyone went.

Hope the newest addition turns out to be nice, for real. Because otherwise... ugh.

Meebo (meebo.com) is a very easy to use, web-based platform for IM, including Jabber.

I friended/neighbored you at vox. I don't plan on leaving LJ for the foreseeable future; basically, I grabbed my name there, just in case.
