I am bored, and sad, and overwhelmed, and that is so really not a good combination of things. And this time of year is so defined now by my mom's and my sister's deaths that it gets hard to get up in the morning. So, I want to see some love. From each other to each other!

To keep my spirits up, I want you to show some love to folks in one of those love memes. Here's what you do: You make a comment here with your LJ name, and people respond anonymously -- or not -- to your comment with some giant loves for you. You don't have to thank them, but you can if you want, 'cause that's just more love to keep my spirits afloat. When you put your name in the comments, let people know about it in your own LJ, so they can run over here and give you the love-on you deserve.

Fandom gets me down sometimes, and right now, I want fandom to get me up. Er, so to speak. You know what I mean. (I'll start it out, but you are not obligated to comment on mine, seriously - this is for me to share in love for others!)

Get some love, and show some to others!

Well, I don’t care what you say, I’m totally going to show you some love – I think I “discovered” your LJ through a post you made about Sharpe (and I absolutely adore your Sharpe/Teresa vid!) but I stayed because I enjoyed your grammar posts and then I discovered our shared love of “The Wire.”

More seriously, you write so eloquently and honestly about your life that even though I’ve never had the opportunity to meet you in person, I truly wish there was something I could do for you to help ease all the painful things.

In conclusion, I’m so glad you made that long-ago post about Sharpe (still in my memories!) because I love reading your LJ.

I'm pretty sure I've told you this before, but "Through Your Hands" is one of my favorite vids ever, in any fandom. It just fills my heart every time I watch it, and I've probably watched it 50 times over the past couple of years. I have it on my iPod, even. It's just brilliant, and now even just hearing the song gives me chills.

I'm sorry fandom is getting you down (believe me, I know how that is), and I'm also sorry we haven't interacted more. I hear such good things about you from SDW. :)

Okay, I'll give you a little love.

---

The sound of sniffing woke Dom up.

He started sniffing, too. Nope, didn't smell anything.

The sniffing sounds continued as Brian shifted in the bed next to him.

It was only when little puffs of air hit his shoulder that Dom realized that Brian was sniffing him.

"Uh, Brian?" he asked, voice still gravelly from sleep.

Sniff, sniff, happy sigh. "Yeah, Dom?"

"What are you doing?"

"What does it look like?"

Dom went through everything he had eaten in the past two days. Nope. Hadn't eaten a lot of garlic or a lot of chili peppers. "Do I smell funny?"

Happy giggle. "Nope. You just smell goooood." Brian drew that last word out and dropped his voice an octave.

"Huh?"

"I love the way you smell in the morning ... you smell like" sniff "testosterone. Like extra manly."

Dom chuckled. "Whatever."

"Hey, dude, it's one of my kinks. Indulge me."

Dom grabbed Brian's hand and guided it down. "I've got a kink, too. A massive one."

Brian's eyes caught fire. "I dunno, Dom," he leered, "I may need some convincing."

"Why don't I show you," Dom rumbled back.

"Sounds like a plan."

I babbled in an email and in person about how your use of one phrase has completely changed a story/universe I have. What I think I forgot to say was that your stories have consistently thrilled and tickled me. And you know, it's been a while since I've read The Lucifer Match - this might be a good night to change that... :)

I first found your LJ when going through an M7 period, since you are one of the main reasons this fandom appeals to me: it may be small and not contain a huge number of good authors -3 at last count, though of course everyone's opinion on such matters differs- but your stories are among the exceptions; they truly live up to the full potential of these characters, they wrench my heart and make me so glad each time I read them that I find myself re-reading them often and finding more to love each time as more subtleties and details unfold themselves.

Then I realized that you were an author I already knew and remembered with excitement from my ongoing Pros obsession (6 years and counting).

Then I realized that I had seen some of your vids and went off to watch the rest, then I started reading your fics regardless of the source material, then... er.

But absolutely not stalking you, I swear!

Take care of yourself and know that you are greatly appreciated and respected by a lot of total strangers like me...

I'm giving you the love because they screwed up my acknowledgements page in the back of my book, and so you weren't on it. But you gave me such hope and encouragment after a long long period of badness about Erasing Sherlock. And you gave me help and advice about the editing that was REALLY useful. And you were the first on my flist to cheer when it arrived. So you are my cause for celebrating the love in fandom! I thank you and feel heaps of love for you.

I may feel weird about receiving love, but I don't feel weird about giving it. :) I adore your vids, and I am impressed by your brains and your strength. We really need to actually hang out more, because I always enjoy our time together.

I'm not sure whether I'm supposed to give you your love under your little self-comment or "out here" in the main comments list, so I'll follow everyone else's lead and do it here.

You know I think you are fabulous. You are so talented, as both a writer and a vidder; your grammar posts are anxiously awaited by lovers of language everywhere. You give insightful and incisive reviews of... well, anything you set your mind to. You are generous and funny and smart and just generally terrific.

Well, I was thinking of pulling up some old pix of Ray Doyle from Professionals, but found I no longer have it on my hard drive, I would have to dig round through backup cds.
Does the thought count??
I'm not sure this counts as share the love, except in the fannish sense of sharing the massive squee.
Also dunno if you've got this link already, just thought it couldn't hurt a bit if you're feeling in need of visuals.

My sugar lump! *Licks you*

You're sweet and snarky, you're loyal with just the right amount of pissy to keep you interesting. You're talented - writing-wise and art-wise and you win at life!

How's the new apartment? Need an address. Never know when a house warming present needs a good home.

Just a random question. Does your LJ name have anything to do with Heather Gladney's books? And never mind because I just took a peak at your LJ and I am so stalking you like a rabid fangirl!

What an incredible co-incidence because I just received my package all the way from Canada of a nice copy of 'Blood Storm' because my first 2 are in total tatters!

What a marvelous thing that [livejournal.com profile] gwyn_r is hosting this little love-in. Because I have serious love for you and have for many many years! I pre-ordered my first copy of 'Blood Storm' before it was even released.

Oh god! Leaving now because I'm babbling like a demented person.

((hugs!!))

Oh, don't leave now, just when things are getting cozy!
No, it's not stalking if you have to face 'em right out in the open, right there in the middle of the street and everything.
And yes, those books are All My Fault.
As I often say, yep, it's me whut dun it, fer my sins!
At the risk spamming gwyn's lj, thank you very much.
It does make me feel better to talk to folks who liked the books (honest criticism ont he weak points are also appreciated very uch, BTW)
And yes, I very much agree that sharing the love (fannish or otherwise) is good for people. I think we need to do lots more of it, and I think gwyn's idea is a good one--and for this cloudy time of year, up here in N.A., particularly good for folks who aren't feeling so great.
And just for an extra squee, yes, I am trying to work on the next two books, did some tonight in fact.

I know I've said it before but it bears repeating: you are such a talented lady. I love your writing and I adore your vids. 'Come to Jesus' and 'After Rain' are still 2 of my most favoritest vids. The one makes me feel all achy and angsty and the other just makes me happy.

And what other person has a cat with their own flea comb!

Not being able to shake the blues sucks mightily. I'm glad you have [livejournal.com profile] mlyn and others near you for comfort and support. Just know that there are others, more distant, who wish you well and think of you fondly.
