Love is all around
Feb. 7th, 2007 10:39 amI am bored, and sad, and overwhelmed, and that is so really not a good combination of things. And this time of year is so defined now by my mom's and my sister's deaths that it gets hard to get up in the morning. So, I want to see some love. From each other to each other!
To keep my spirits up, I want you to show some love to folks in one of those love memes. Here's what you do: You make a comment here with your LJ name, and people respond anonymously -- or not -- to your comment with some giant loves for you. You don't have to thank them, but you can if you want, 'cause that's just more love to keep my spirits afloat. When you put your name in the comments, let people know about it in your own LJ, so they can run over here and give you the love-on you deserve.
Fandom gets me down sometimes, and right now, I want fandom to get me up. Er, so to speak. You know what I mean. (I'll start it out, but you are not obligated to comment on mine, seriously - this is for me to share in love for others!)
Get some love, and show some to others!

Date: 2007-02-07 07:03 pm (UTC)More seriously, you write so eloquently and honestly about your life that even though I’ve never had the opportunity to meet you in person, I truly wish there was something I could do for you to help ease all the painful things.
In conclusion, I’m so glad you made that long-ago post about Sharpe (still in my memories!) because I love reading your LJ.

The sound of sniffing woke Dom up.
He started sniffing, too. Nope, didn't smell anything.
The sniffing sounds continued as Brian shifted in the bed next to him.
It was only when little puffs of air hit his shoulder that Dom realized that Brian was sniffing him.
"Uh, Brian?" he asked, voice still gravelly from sleep.
Sniff, sniff, happy sigh. "Yeah, Dom?"
"What are you doing?"
"What does it look like?"
Dom went through everything he had eaten in the past two days. Nope. Hadn't eaten a lot of garlic or a lot of chili peppers. "Do I smell funny?"
Happy giggle. "Nope. You just smell goooood." Brian drew that last word out and dropped his voice an octave.
"Huh?"
"I love the way you smell in the morning ... you smell like" sniff "testosterone. Like extra manly."
Dom chuckled. "Whatever."
"Hey, dude, it's one of my kinks. Indulge me."
Dom grabbed Brian's hand and guided it down. "I've got a kink, too. A massive one."
Brian's eyes caught fire. "I dunno, Dom," he leered, "I may need some convincing."
"Why don't I show you," Dom rumbled back.
"Sounds like a plan."

Date: 2007-02-07 10:35 pm (UTC)I first found your LJ when going through an M7 period, since you are one of the main reasons this fandom appeals to me: it may be small and not contain a huge number of good authors -3 at last count, though of course everyone's opinion on such matters differs- but your stories are among the exceptions; they truly live up to the full potential of these characters, they wrench my heart and make me so glad each time I read them that I find myself re-reading them often and finding more to love each time as more subtleties and details unfold themselves.
Then I realized that you were an author I already knew and remembered with excitement from my ongoing Pros obsession (6 years and counting).
Then I realized that I had seen some of your vids and went off to watch the rest, then I started reading your fics regardless of the source material, then... er.
But absolutely not stalking you, I swear!
Take care of yourself and know that you are greatly appreciated and respected by a lot of total strangers like me...
*slinking away before you start issuing restraining orders*

Date: 2007-02-08 04:25 am (UTC)You know I think you are fabulous. You are so talented, as both a writer and a vidder; your grammar posts are anxiously awaited by lovers of language everywhere. You give insightful and incisive reviews of... well, anything you set your mind to. You are generous and funny and smart and just generally terrific.

Date: 2007-02-08 06:25 am (UTC)Does the thought count??
I'm not sure this counts as share the love, except in the fannish sense of sharing the massive squee.
Also dunno if you've got this link already, just thought it couldn't hurt a bit if you're feeling in need of visuals.

Nice lj icon there, which is what made me think of this one...

Date: 2007-02-09 06:56 am (UTC)You're sweet and snarky, you're loyal with just the right amount of pissy to keep you interesting. You're talented - writing-wise and art-wise and you win at life!
How's the new apartment? Need an address. Never know when a house warming present needs a good home.

Date: 2007-02-09 07:12 am (UTC)What an incredible co-incidence because I just received my package all the way from Canada of a nice copy of 'Blood Storm' because my first 2 are in total tatters!
What a marvelous thing that
Oh god! Leaving now because I'm babbling like a demented person.
((hugs!!))
Date: 2007-02-09 07:31 am (UTC)No, it's not stalking if you have to face 'em right out in the open, right there in the middle of the street and everything.
And yes, those books are All My Fault.
As I often say, yep, it's me whut dun it, fer my sins!
At the risk spamming gwyn's lj, thank you very much.
It does make me feel better to talk to folks who liked the books (honest criticism ont he weak points are also appreciated very uch, BTW)
And yes, I very much agree that sharing the love (fannish or otherwise) is good for people. I think we need to do lots more of it, and I think gwyn's idea is a good one--and for this cloudy time of year, up here in N.A., particularly good for folks who aren't feeling so great.
And just for an extra squee, yes, I am trying to work on the next two books, did some tonight in fact.
