In which I go shopping

I have wasted my whole weekend. I was social on Friday night, didn't do anything much Friday day of any importance, spent Saturday up in Marysville with my cousin, and then putzed around all day today with nothing more productive than betaing some fanfic and getting ready to make a pie. It has been glorious. I realized the other day in a kind of shopping meltdown that i haven't done anything for myself or had a moment alone to myself without work hanging over my head, my dad's situation, or something else making me feel miserable.
But boy did I get some cool stuff! I was downtown for an appointment, and I thought I might stop in to Barney's New York to see if they had these Dries Van Noten (my fave of the current designers around) shoes I'd fallen madly truly deeply in love with in InStyle magazine this month. They didn't have them in Seattle, but they said they could order them for me from Beverly Hills or NY. I immediately said yes. The really colorful version that I fell for in the magazine though look like they were pretty much just for the runway and layouts; the only ones I could find for sale to mere mortals are the more muted color palette. But I have never wanted a pair of shoes more than I wanted these:

The adorable guy who helped me out said I should try on some of the Van Noten shoes they had there to make sure sizing was good, and so I tried on these, only with the heel in silver -- they were absolutely fabulous and made me feel all princessy, which is pretty unusual considering that I'm 5'11" and built like a linebacker. They also made my feet look microscopically small, which adorable guy commented about.

We don't even get sandal weather in Seattle till after Independence Day usually, so I will probably get to wear them about four times, but I figure I can also bring them to Vividcon and dance the night away at Club Vivid in them.
Before that, I'd been over at Nordstrom and found a really swell cardi jacket thingie, which is perfect for my class starting in a couple weeks -- the rooms they put me in start out cold in the early part of the quarter and unbearably hot by the end of the term. It's a sort of mauvey blush color and looks really good against my skin, and I figure it'll look good with ankle trousers and those divine sandals.
And then I swung by the handbags department; I'd been toying with the idea of getting a new one for summer because I'm kind of tired of dealing with the strap on my current one, even though I love it, and saw this thing. I fell in love with the hinge hardware detail, and it had lots of interior pockets, which I adored, and the color is this dusty blue purple. Even though I knew I shouldn't get this plus the sandals, I did anyway. 'Cause it's awesome.

I was out of control, I tell you. But it was weird -- I realized I hadn't power shopped in years. I was used to doing this with my sister, going to Barney's when she came home and buying outrageous things for our birthday. And I had no Christmas this year, spent all my holidays in the hospital, and haven't done anything except work and deal with my dad now for months. So I just kind of lost my willpower and said, "What the hell," and went for it. And I don't even actually feel guilty, which I usually do. I love the bag, I can't wait for the sandals to arrive, and I can't wait to have a chance to wear the cardi jacket.
So now I'm finishing up my wasteful weekend with the last disc of the Community season 1 set. I'm fascinated by the fact that my poll has wound up so far as a tie between Community and Justified. I have a few non-LJ email votes to include, but I have to figure this one out.
