Thanks so much to everyone for the "there, there" pats on the shoulder the other day, and for the buck-up bunky pep talks (and Dine, thanks so much for the card, it meant a lot to me). I feel a lot better now, heck, I even started to feel a little better on Tuesday, just because the plumbers were gone and the short visit from the electrician didn't affect me in any large way. I guess a lot of it was just the plumbers. When you work at home and your meds make you pee about every hour, it's kind of hard when you don't have potty access to your only bathrooom. Not to mention the mass destruction to the bathroom that kind of gets me down every time I look at it. But having them gone, it's just... a lot easier. The drywall was delivered today and Brent said that's the low point of the job, but I told him that frankly, I feel like last week was the low point, everything else is up.

Today he was swearing at the HVAC guys like I haven't heard him swear before, except at himself. He's just furious with them for punching holes in his walls and leaving the mess behind -- and these are the professional guys, the most responsible we've had here. He keeps telling me, "See, this is what I mean. They're all animals." I <3 Brent.

Insulation! Amazing how suddenly, everythng got vewy vewy quiet. Without the drywall on top, it's very... insulating.

The new tankless water heater and the new furnace. The sign on the water tank says that 178 is the lowest energy rating and 270something was the highest. Mine is 178! I win at the environments! And the furnace is 97% of the lowest energy use. I'm really happy about having such energy efficient, low carbon footprint utilities.

Siding is starting to go up all around the addition now. They warned me there would be a jog where the old wall met the new one, but it's utterly seamless and flat as far as I can tell. He's doing an amazing job.

Weird as it may sound, it's the small things, like this cold air return for the furnace, that make me most excited (OK, and the dishwasher). I have lost valuable floor space all these years because the return was on the floor in the hall and I couldn't cover it. Now I can finally put some furniture or pet stuff there. W00t!
